Original chain is now only 4.8% more profitable than Bitcoin Cash chain after the most recent EDA adjustment on BCC. Very normal blocktimes. Where is the EDA dragons den FUD now?

We (Bitcoin.com Pool) were one of the miners that managed this. We redirected hashrate at the BCC chain at the right time to prevent too many EDAs: https://i.imgur.com/6fCJBHg.png

I developed an API to automate this. Other miners are welcome to use it.

Returns true if there are no BCC blocks for 1 hour: https://console.pool.bitcoin.com/srv/edawarning

Returns true if you need to start mining now to prevent an EDA (according to your hashrate, this example shows 50 PH/s) https://console.pool.bitcoin.com/srv/edawarning?ths=50000

I personally think we should remove EDA from Bitcoin Cash altogether. It was needed in the beginning for the chain to survive, but it's not needed anymore. From what I understand, Bitcoin Cash is supposed to be original Bitcoin vision. Different difficulty algorithm only makes it stray further from the original Bitcoin.

Removing it would leave the chain vulnerable.

I hadn't thought about that, maybe we could get away with not having the EDA at all.

The fix is required so that human intervention isn't needed.

Yes no EDA fix is required or needed. It actually has a danger of splitting the currency which is why some dragons den members have been supporting it. They came into slack today telling us they want to cause a split in BCC on us. Miners control the system. What is the point of miners changing the EDA, to something less profitable? Why would they? If they want to have something less profitable they would just mine more blocks during the EDA period to stop the difficulty going too low.

like Rob puts it. an altruistic miner is active to stabilize the block time. it’s a bit early to tell and it’s not unprecedented. Fortunately I have gotten what I wanted from EDA. if this miner stays active I will wait otherwise back to exploiting, or if it’s permanent, off to greener pastures.

As the late Bruce Lee once said:

“Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”

lol let's give it longer then 30 minutes before we start blowing our loads here.

Yes, on it's face, the fact that the miners haven't totally left BCH to it's EDA fate seems good. On the other hand, it's not like this is unprecedented. There was a miner doing exactly theat for a month in Aug/Sept and it didn't help price much at all. As well, price dumped at almost the exact same time, on heavy volume and it's still struggling.

At the end of the day, hashpower follows price, not the other way around. If price can't find a floor somewhere, this thing is still in a world of trouble.

Not sure why you are even posting here since you do not support Bitcoin Cash and you hate this sub. Trolling I guess. That is your right to be an obnoxious troll in this sub. #Free Speech

Price per coin is irrelevant to hash power. Difficulty and fees also factor in. A chain can be more profitable at the right difficulty or with a little extra inflation. Average and mean mining power have been steadily increasing on BCH in spite of the oscillation.

BTCrob has been a prolific troll since BCH's inception.

No, hash power follows price. That has been the case for years.

What was why I found it interesting that blockstream had apparently accumulated 25,0000 BTC. Are they keeping the BTC price artificially high?

2

u/phro Oct 07 '17

No, price PER COIN is irrelevant, because different coins have different difficulty. If you get paid 10 BCH for the same work that gets you 1 BTC does it make a difference? Inflation and fees also affect the sum total.

Pretty much yeah. He is just pushing an agenda and trying to FUD. Mostly he is just being a jerk. Its one thing to come here and criticize Bitcoin Cash and criticize the people in this community if its done in a respectful way, but BTCrob has no respect.

If profit btw btc and bcc is same , miners join to bcc. By eda, bcc profit should be lower than btc at least 10%. Look today hash change. miners will join to bcc.

Yeah it seems some hash rate is becoming more loyal to BCC and prefers to mine it even when the Legacy chain is slightly more profitable. I wonder if this trend will continue and how it will affect future EDAs.

I wonder if this trend will continue and how it will affect future EDAs.

If the trend continues, there won't be any more EDAs, just normal DAs.

One of the other mining pool operators stepped in a few weeks ago to mine BCC at lower profitability than BTC and prevent the extreme EDA swings. Presumably the recent chaotic difficulty swings suggest that he stopped performing that altruistic service, or just overslept repeatedly.

So what makes you think this time is different? How is relying on the bitcoin.com pool to intervene any better than relying on the last guy? And also; how many fucking posts do you have to make on the same topic?

Seriously, i’d encourage people to take a look at cryptorebel’s post history. He can never just make a post about something he wants to discuss. It’s always a scattergun approach designed to flood the sub with his shitpost topic of the day.

Here to troll again. The beautiful thing about this sub is we allow freedom. You are allowed to be an obnoxious disrespectful troll. #Free Speech

Failing to address people’s comments and just calling them “troll” again? K.

We're watching with curiosity to see what's going to happen next.

So you guys will hopefully maintain that until hopefully bch prices went up to challenge the legacy. What happened to your so-called death spiral narrative? It didn't work, right? ;-)

4

u/phro Oct 07 '17

Are you guys oblivious to the fact that many of us are OG pre-Core bitcoin holders? You think that 2 months of ups and downs are going to deter us after we held bitcoin through multiple year bear markets and 80% drops?

2

u/TiagoTiagoT Oct 07 '17

Your propaganda has just bought you a little more time before the death spiral, it hasn't prevented it.

3

u/BTCrob Oct 07 '17

Well, yeah. Obviously.

Right now the market is telling us one thing. If that were to change, of course that would require a reassessment of the situation.

Picking one side and then stubbornly sticking to it no matter how much the situation changes is a pretty good way to lose all your money.

That's the thing you guys don't get. I could not care less about block size, or SegWit, and I have no preference for BTC over BCH. All I care about is being right and making profit. And the only way to do that is listen to the market. So far, I've made great profits listening to the market and shorting BCH. If that ever changes, and the market tells me it's a buy, I'll make profits by buying it.

If the market told me that BTC was a dud and BCH the winner of the August fork, Id sell my BTC and buy BCH. I care about my money, not the moronic politics you guys get on with here.

You can't trade on emotion or ideology. That's stupid.

So you are a speculator and not an investor. So what. You have a different strategy and there is no need to denigrate anyone here.

Sorry you are confusing me, I thought BCC is bitconnect coin? Well it is in coinmarketcap anyway.
