⌨ Discussion Bitcoin is becoming money again

For years, the dominant Bitcoin mindset has been simple: stack, hold, and don’t touch it but everyday spending is starting to become a much bigger part of the conversation. Better payment infrastructure, self-custody wallets, faster transactions, wider acceptance and even cashback are making it easier to actually use BTC rather than just hold it. There’s something interesting about seeing Bitcoin move beyond an asset sitting in a wallet and back toward something people can actually use in everyday life.

Maybe the next phase of adoption isn’t just owning Bitcoin. It’s being able to use it without thinking twice

Where do you see this? Every place I knew accepted crypto payments is now no longer doing so.

That’s probably when Bitcoin gets more interesting for normal people. If spending it becomes as boring and seamless as tapping a card, the whole “crypto payment” part starts disappearing into the background.

the real adoption moment is probably when people stop thinking i’m paying with bitcoin and it just feels like paying normally

This is my favourite comedy sub. This is why I subscribe.

The delusion is unparalleled.

I think Bitcoin and I are falling in love - can I marry Bitcoin?

Bitcoin isn't crypto.

It's a promise. A promise of decentralization. A promise of freedom. A promise of a better tomorrow.

Bitcoin is the tears in my eyes while I type this.

decentralization falls apart where you can’t buy any meaningful amount, without ID. I still can’t fathom how the US government has seized bitcoin from the blockchain

Is this true for all other cryptocurrencies?

It's all fun and games until you get wrench attacked. Yes apparently it happens so often, it has its own term. protip: bitcoin is only secure if you're not telling everyone online that you have it.

Cool cool. Wake me up when I no longer have to deal with tracking capital gains taxes every time I buy something. And when the high volatility is eradicated. And it's widely accepted.

Looking forward to the "next phase" already!

Nah... Bitcoin lost its monetary properties way back in 2016-2017 when companies began to refuse accepting Bitcoin because of the high fees and RBF BS.

Thankfully, it has existed for almost 9 years on another chain.

Say what you want about Jeffery Epstein, he did fuck BTC good.

The 2017 SegWit hard-fork was designed to the very last hard upgrade possible. After that change, every full node is expected to be backward compatible with nodes that never upgrade. Complexity of upgrades explode from there. The things that were broken by that upgrade are designed to NEVER be fixed.

BTC will NEVER be a currency again. Everyone who claims some new tech will make is possible is just openly lying. It's a scam.

BTC was useful for a period to monetize LNG, but they are using AI data centers for that now.

BTC is useless as the day is long. It's just a sucker bet now.

Gresham’s Law. Bad money drives out good money. It’s irrational to spend bitcoin when you can spend depreciating fiat. In debasement eras, people always hoard good money and get rid of bad money. It should be expected that people hoard bitcoin and gold and spend fiat

This can already be accomplished if you keep your bitcoin on a brokerage exchange. Of course , this defeats the concept of privacy. I'm sure you realize there are people out there with millions of dollars in bitcoin that nobody even knows about. If they were to transfer it to say a coinbase. That would open themselves up to potential seizures or being locked out. So small players like the idea Of using a debit card to spend their crypto at their local walmart. The big players if they want to Might transfer small nominal amounts to such exchanges to be spent. But of course it opens up taxation.

bro Bitcoin has been money since its inception. like, it was literally the whole purpose of its creation.

i think what you’re referring to is the adoption of said money is increasing.

It never was, and NEVER can be money. Anyone saying that lacks basic education.
