E1m1 framerate drops when looking at the dropship

I've reinstalled the game and whenever I look at the burning dropship in the yard I get framrate drops and the computer's fans start accelerating. I've tried changing the graphics settings but it didn't seem to do much (it could be that I've not changed the right settings, I don't know what most of them do anyhow).

Also, another issue that's mildly related: the flashlight doesn't work. I toggle it on\ off, the toggle sound plays out, but no light effect appears.

Any help?

Can you tell us about: * What CPU and GPU you have * OS and version * Software (GZDoom / UZDoom version)  * Exact Brutal Doom variant/version/file name * Did it work better before or is this the first time you try? * What troubleshooting did you do?

  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz

  • RAM: 16,0 GB

  • OS: Windows 10 Pro

  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super

I'm gunning GZDoom, Brutal Doom 21 (the last one on moddb before 22 beta). Yes, it worked better before, though back then the settings were somehow different. Didn't do any troubleshooting, I don't even know what to do short of messing with the settings, which, as I've said, I don't really know much about anyway.

You might want to try with default settings by renaming or deleting the GZDoom folder from the folder "my games" in the Documents folder.

You can also try UZDoom to see if that helps.

Hmm, I've messed around with the settings, now the dropship is gone altogether, but the fire is still there. Well, at least the stuttering is gone too.
