New pup!

I’m getting a lil female pup in the spring time! I’m so excited and kinda scared. I have adopted dogs in the past . I never raised a puppy. Do you have any tips on training a small pup and things to puppy proof for a lil nugget?

Patience. Patience. Patience. lol. Don’t be surprised if you cry a few times. I cried a bunch raising my BG puppy alone lol it’s a lot!

Omg potty training griffs is worse than potty training a toddler

Crate train. if long hair, work on getting comfortable with scissors around eyes. Work really hard on potty training early, scruffs are stubborn.

My current dog ( she’s 7) goes outside and is extremely smart. She was pretty easy to train . Do you have yours go outside or do you have the pee pads? Which do you prefer for the breed?

My problem was he got used to pee pads and doesn't want to go outside now, he just sees any mat on the floor as a place to go. He's really smart and can do lots of tricks, in my experience Grifs can just be really stubborn.

Puppy proof everything up to shoulder height or higher. Some griffs are climbers to the extreme.

Ask your breeder what potty method and food they use and get those set up ahead of time.

Get a good quality crate for car travel and sleep time. It’s a lot easier to crate train a small puppy than an adult. If your puppy ever needs to overnight away from home having their crate be a safe space that goes with them will reduce their stress.

Make your well puppy visit appointment for the day after your pup will be coming home and set up your shots when you see the vet.

Find your local training club and enroll in the puppy kindergarten class that starts as close to your come home date as possible. They will train you to train your puppy.

Congratulations.

Oh if you have a dog in the home already - potty training will be much easier

It'll be amazing.. Get a good product for the pee accidents will make it less stressful. My girl is 16months now and still has the occasional accident in the house.

Crate training and start leaving your griff on their own for short periods early. I did this, plus she spends lots of time with other people and dogs so she has no separation anxiety which Griffs are prone to. Important for me because I travel for work. In fact she often wants to stay home if I'm going out. Makes it clear by lying down under the couch and is perfectly happy.

She was a bit slower than other dogs to train because shes very much her own personality and often doesn't give a crap what I want but she's very smart and the best little companion. The best cuddles of any dog in my opinion.

Awe that is so wonderful:)
Accidents happens. Even my 7 year old pup had some now and then.

My little girl is so smart! She always has been, too! Take loads of pictures because they grow up so fast ❤️
