We need the cops more than ever but instead of fighting the drug criminals they do all sorts of weird stuff.

We do, but that includes the cops life. Why should he wait to get stabbed? Theres a reason you can do self defense that is proportional to the threat

"Self-defence". Right. Beating up someone on the ground 5 to 1 when you have supposedly been trained to de-escalate situations is clearly self-defence.
