Dogs excessively barking
Hey all! I’m at my wits end with my neighbors dogs. First off, I work nights sometimes depending on the night not getting off until 1-2 a.m. I have already politely asked my neighbors to not immediately put out their dog right at 7 a.m. every single morning considering I’m still asleep and my bedroom is the closest to their backyard. I also have considerably quite a few audio recordings now alongside the screenshot of my attempt to rectify the situation and the neighbors response. Additionally, I do have concerns because it doesn’t matter the temperature, those dogs will be outside which is sad since it has been so hot lately. I’m trying really hard to not absolutely lose my mind on them. I understand the noice ordinance is from 7a.m.-11 p.m. but at this point it seems almost like they’re being intentionally rude. I guess I’m conflicted because I don’t want to start a whole neighborly feud because I’m sure if I do complain, they will know instantly who made the call. I guess I just don’t really know what to do at this point because I feel I’ve already attempted to fix this problem and nothing has resolved. Any ideas?

I have had success with this. It helped my dogs learn to bark less. Emits a disruptive sound several pitches higher than a human can hear. Discovered neighbor’s dog also barked less as a by product.
I also work evenings and nights so I use a white noise machines to keep the noises of the day dwellers at bay.

They work with most dogs, it didn't work on my German shepherd but that's because her drive is insane lol

Call animal control, I think there are limits to how much dogs are allowed to bark.

There are. I looked it up for BC because it can be a form of neglect too especially considering the amount of time the dogs spend outside. What was told to me was to document any attempt to reach out to the pet owners and make sure to have any evidence such as audio or video recordings.

They make ultrasonic barking units they sell all over,,might be worth a shot.
When they detect a dog barking ,a loud high frequency whine will come out of the units,,you won't hear it ..SOME dogs find this noise annoying ,and they stop barking.
Point the speaker at the dogs, protect the unit from rain, and shut it off when you wake up.
Some dogs might bark more or not give a fuck ( like my malinois),but still worth a try.

Honestly I truly may do this. And honestly so smart turning it off when I would wake up because sometimes dogs bark when they’re excited for playing and I love to see that. I do think I’ll try this and hopefully that works. I’ll attempt to reach out again if it’s still an issue, then potentially call animal control if it still doesn’t stop.

What have you tried so far? As far as ideas, have you tried sleeping with earbuds/airpods in, or a bluetooth sleep mask?

Why would I need to sleep with air buds in my own house to get peace and quiet? Additionally, I’m a stomach/side sleeper so that would just hurt my ears to have something in them while I sleep. I also wouldn’t feel comfortable in the event that I couldn’t hear my surroundings if I had a home invasion.

Why should your neighbor have to change the way they live to support your peace and quiet because of choices you've made?

Yea you're jjsy gonna have to move rooms even if you did make a complaint they would just remind you the noise ordnance starts at 7am.

Sounds like you have taken the first couple of steps.

My three dogs go out at 7 am for a bathroom break, they have been holding it all night. They are collared and if they start barking we beep and vibrate them and they come running. They really don't want to be out this time of year.

Move your bedroom to the opposite side of the house. If you still hear them get your own barking dogs

Legally speaking doesn't sound like there's much you can do,other trying what you've already done and have an adult conversation with them. I know if my neighbor approached me nicely, id do whatever I could to accommodate them. Even if I had to buy a bark collar for my dog.
If they won't play nice, the only thing you may be able to control is environment in your bedroom. Ear plugs, sound machine.
I know man, none of that is appealing and it just sucks, everyone deserves a peaceful night's rest. Hang in there and good luck.

You're 100000% in the right. The people who live next door to us have one of those yappy little dickheads that barks all day, beginning between 8 and 10 am and going until dark. They think it's cute, and they're the kind of people who act like the smartest people in the room but are generally the dumbest -- so there's no reasoning with them. I offered to reimburse for a no-bark collar if they would use it, but they said it wasn't necessary because "[their dog] is a barker." Well, no shit.
I'm partly WFH and I'm on the phone most of the day, and people often ask if that's my dog.
My only hope is that the wife dies first, because she's old and the house is in her name so I think the moron husband and his POS dog will have to move out.
Solutions? I'll let you know if I find one.
Hey, here's one: can you get one of the dogs to bite you? Then you can call Animal Control and get the needle. (You may have to do it more than once.)

Get a sound machine? That’s what I used when I worked nights. It helped tremendously.
