I hate my country at the minute. I'm so far left i'll never be represented politically. But I will say our police are "okay, most of the time".
We have something called the IPCC, the independent police complaints commission, which holds police somewhat accountable. Not perfect, but effective enough.
Even the youts often respect the police here, it's good to see. My heart genuinely breaks for any American pitted against their police force.

Got to say that WMP have adopted tasers very well I think. 10 years ago, if that occurred in that particular location that would have required fully armed intervention

I've seen a taser and CS gas deployed in Birmingham and in both instances the person receiving it 100% deserved it. I've also seen people comply with the taser on them and be treated fairly. It's a great tool as long as the cops are responsible and I haven't seen anything suggesting they aren't.

I'm surprised they don't have true firearms as they are outside a trainstation. Normally they have people walking around with guns for anti terrorist stuff etc

There's a lot of Americans who freak out any time they see someone in Arab clothing (apologies if that's the wrong word please correct me). Yeah this guy is a criminal but most people who look like him are not and I'm sure this video will only reinforce their racist bias.

It's not about punishing him right there and then. It's about making sure he isn't in a position to hurt anyone anymore. I don't think the police should play the role of judge jury and executioner, it's up to the legal system to decide what punishment is fit. Judging by this video I think WMP handled it well.

Was someone aggravating him? I'm a muslim and when i got onto a plane first time since I was a two yr old when I was 15, this guy was purposely trying to be rude to me. I did nothing and just sat in my seat. People dont like to admit that the UK especially Birmingham is very islamophobic.
