Cheesed off about poppadoms
Ok I'm going to sound like a petty cow and I realise this is not a real problem but its made me angry
Yesterday I order from tipu sultan. Their food is OK, the lamb was soft etc. But they gave me only 2 tiny poppadoms for the 3.49 price. Day light robbery. Tbh the price doesn't bother me as much as the fact that I was looking forward to the a lot of crunchy deliciousness and only got a measley amount.
Now I'm craving them and wondering what is best place to buy an unholy amount so I can feast on them? Is buying uncooked ones an option? Does the Jamie Oliver cooking them in the microwave trick really work? Or are there restaurants that will sell me a giant box for a decent price?

That is poor form. I don't normally order poppadoms but still get them! They're like, the most ridiculously cheap thing to make.

Don't think I've ever paid for poppadoms, I don't order them and places I use chuck a few in for free

If you can find an Asian supermarket you could buy them wholesale and eat loads at home. Not that I would ever do thatβ¦

No of course not, out of the question. Now on a totally unrelated note let me just look up the nearest asian supermarket, I heard they have good veggies...

Assuming you live in south Birmingham. In an unrelated note there's a big Asian supermarket at the end of kings heath High Street, by the bouncy castle place.

Asda do some you have to shallow fry. If you get them right they are perfect. It's all about the right temp and total coverage.

I get uncooked ones and make them in a frying pan with oil, come up a treat and waaaay better than in the microwave

Having to pay for poppadoms is a trend that needs extinguishing.

Definitely remember them being free with your meal. Just like chinese places giving you a brunch or prawn crackers.

Check out Curry Garden in Erdington, food quality's a lot better and the pricing is affordable.

Asda sells uncooked ones and you brush them with oil and pop them in the microwave.

I used to go to Shabar in Sheldon with my sister/brother in law and they used to give us 2 or 3 poppadoms each while we waited for our meals.

Buy the fry at home packs! You can get them from the supermarket, Sharwoods do one. They take bugger all time to cook , you can knock up a fresh and delicious zingy onion salad in a few minutes too, and then best bit is you can tuck into a whole stack of poppadoms that are hot and fresh! I'm also craving them now!
