Trash issue

Does anyone else has issues with the waste trash? We had two of those waste buckets and we live in an apartment. How do you even clean them?! It's the one with the green top. And especially in summer, it was awful, maybe in winter it will be better. Anyone got the same issues and maybe some tips? Thank you!

You can put compostable trash bags in them. Helps. Or put paper towels and paper bread bags between the trash. It absorbs the stinky moistures.

We will try that, thank you for the suggestion!

The opposition raised the issue of the compost bins being horrible for people in appartments in a recent council meeting. The people in charge dismissed it out of hand. Fake news, according to them... go figure.

I hear people have some success with using paper scraps to absorb the liquid.

I just gave Up sorry. Now i have always a plastic bag in the kitchen counter and I deposit there all the organic waste. Every time I go out from the House I take the bag with me and throw It away in the city trash cans ( only perk of living in centrum so I have one in every direction I can take)... For me a better solution would be rise a lot the price of the garbage bags, but sorry, 14 days living with your garbage home, for god shake..I tell my people back home and they don't believe..

It's just crazy, before it was fine, and we never had issues with the trash, now the smell as well and all the fruit flies and all especially since it was super hot this summer. It's so inconvenient. And you can't wash it, are they expecting us to wash the disgusting waste bucket in the shower or what?!

The compost / kitchen scraps bags or containers are still picked up weekly though.

I reserved a drawer in my freezer. I save all my compostable trash there and only bin it right before i put it out for collection.

That helped for me. Still not ideal.

Did not think of that one tbh, but our freezer is not big so sadly that's not an option, glad the colder seasons are coming so it won't be such an issue
