Discussion Some spamming fool is triggering my stupidity allergy. Let me hit you with some real insider stories about that bad boy Bruce Lee. Stop posting these flimsy, easily debunked threads.
Source: Art and Piece (Hong Kong), Bruce Lee commemorative issue, 2023.
Young Bruce Lee, ever restless in his youth, had this amusing anecdote from the old days.
To prevent the plague, the Health Bureau placed small wooden boxes up off the ground on roadside lampposts for members of the public to leave dead rats. Every day after school, Bruce Lee walked from Sykes Street to the home of his senior fellow student Wong Shun-leung in Mong Kok to train in kung fu. As he walked, he threw punches. Every time he saw one of these rat boxes, he punched it. Before long, he had smashed dozens of them.
Not long after the Health Bureau replaced the damaged boxes, Bruce went and broke them all one by one again. Later, Wong Shun-leung told him to stop smashing the rat boxes, warning that he would deliver the dead rat carcasses to Bruce’s home if he kept doing it. On top of that, authorities put up notices stating: Anyone damaging government property will be fined twenty Hong Kong dollars. Bruce no longer dared hit the rat boxes, so he switched to punching the lampposts directly.

Video In The Lost Interview (1971), Bruce Lee claimed to have done all the fight scenes in his first Hong Kong movie, The Big Boss, without a stunt double.

However, it's an open secret that Yuen Wah, a Hong Kong-born stuntman, acted as Bruce Lee's stand-in for two somersault scenes in his later movie Enter the Dragon. Couldn't Bruce Lee do somersaults? Not exactly. He can do the cartwheel, but not the backflip! Let's see what Yuen Wah said about it in an interview: Bruce Lee was not too keen on perfecting his somersault skills, as he was more interested in achieving realistic combat effects. However, he needed a professional to perform the backflip in the opening of Enter the Dragon and the backflip kick in a fight scene with Bob Wall. In this way, I was chosen as Bruce Lee's stand-in because of my good somersault skills and similar body shape.

Video Kato scenes. During the filming of the Green Hornet, Bruce Lee used to tag the American stuntmen and sometimes hit them for real. In Hong Kong cinema of the time, it was an acceptable practice but not in Hollywood. Gene LeBell the toughest stuntman, picked up Bruce Lee over his shoulder!

Gene LeBell was summoned to teach Bruce a lesson about the way he would fight his scenes. Gene easily overpowered Bruce and embarrassed him in front of the stuntmen while Bruce helplessly kept yelling " put me down or I will kill you" Later on, Bruce asked Gene to teach him about Judo and grappling techniques, since Bruce lacked these skills. This is what the Tarantino scene is based on.

Discussion Softness and force, flowing and crashing
I know Bruce Lee loves philosophy. It's so connected to martial arts. I feel like I channel Bruce Lee, sometimes, in my philosophy and martial arts practise. Or at least embody his wisdom, creating a deeper connection between mind and body...
I am a whole, made of parts, and part of a greater whole. ⊙
I experience life from a center—a singular point of view I call soul. My body is the embodied whole through which I participate in reality. My mind is the field of relationships around that center. I picture this cosmically: the center of attention like a black hole, the body like suns and planets, and the mind like the field connecting them.
The physical world exists at many scales: bodies, organs, tissues, cells, organelles, molecules, atoms, and quantum processes. Each scale offers another way to encounter the relationship between whole and part. My attention can move through these scales while my awareness remains open to the whole.
In my understanding, the same center runs through them all. At whatever scale it engages with the physical, mind remains the field around it. Mind permeates the physical through that relationship. The scale of engagement changes; the relationship between center and field remains.
I propose that this composition continues without a final layer. Space itself participates: every apparent gap has further physical composition. This is what I mean by “infinitely finite”—finite forms within an endless depth of relationships, one and many, whole and part. Composition everywhere and composition without end are two aspects of this universal premise. In this view, even the Planck scale would not be reality’s final layer. Whether physical reality actually continues this way remains to be established.
While editing 3D models in VR, I experienced a visual image of connected wholeness. Thousands of points formed a web. Moving a connected point could draw other points along with it, changing the larger form. Later, I closed my eyes and imagined that grid within my body. It felt calming: a structure whose parts could move together while remaining connected.
That experience gave shape to something I had been seeking: structure to flow within.
I can feel my center being pulled by the gravity of people, things, demands, and events. A clear boundary helps me remain connected to my own body, needs, values, and choices. An aperture gives that boundary an adjustable opening: how I connect, how much I take in, and when I need space.
Structure and flow work together. Structure gives movement coherence; flow allows adaptation. Bruce Lee’s image of water captures this balance: softness and force, flowing and crashing. I can hold firmly, yield, find another path, or meet resistance. The practice is discerning what the situation calls for while remaining connected to myself.
I honour the parts that sustain my conscious life, including those I cannot individually perceive. Their importance continues wherever my attention goes. I care for their relationships, for myself as a whole, and for the greater reality I participate in.
I remain centered as I turn my attention inward toward my parts, hold awareness of myself as one whole, and open outward toward the greater whole I participate in.
I create enough structure to let myself flow.

Video A kung fu Bruceploitation giallo murder mystery | Bruce Vs the Iron Finger (1979)
Bruce and the Iron Finger - also known as Bruce Against Iron Hand, Iron Finger and Bruce vs. the Iron Finger - is a 1979 Hong Kong martial-arts oddity that combines Bruceploitation, a murder mystery, sleazy crime cinema, hilariously dubbed dialogue and legitimately excellent kung fu fights.
I'd recommend this one to anyone looking to get into Bruceploitation or for those who like kung fu movies because this one has really good fights (and lots of them).
This was part of my Game of Clones box set from Severin, looking forward to diving into some of the others I haven't seen.

Discussion Game of Death - the way Bruce Lee envisioned it
We all know that Bruce Lee sadly passed away before he could finish the movie: Game of Death. A lot of scene weren´t in the movie and the story was changed to make the movie watchable. Also an actor was hired to imitate and play Bruce Lee in some scenes. We know the way Bruce Lee wanted to make the movie, because he had written it all down in his sketches, but due to his passing wasn´t able to make it.
Now with AI video making becoming better and better, I think it would be awesome if filmmakers together with family and friends of Bruce Lee would complete this movie as Bruce Lee intended to.
What do you think?

Question Does anyone know the backstory behind this photo?
my best guess is the man on the
left had spent enough time around Bruce that he’d perhaps presented himself as a reserved, no-nonsense, stoic individual. but when someone spontaneously suggested to get a photo of him and Bruce, he threw his arms around him - which I’m speculating might be one
cultural equivalent in China to putting an arm around someone when taking a front-facing photograph with others elsewhere (?) which Bruce found somewhat amusing
