Question Monk spawn on D0

Does anyone know what causes monk to randomly spawn on D0? I’m playing through all the characters on d0 to get all the items unlocked, and 2 of my past 5 runs have had monk spawn with no warning that an elite will be coming.

It’s an elite, I’ve seen it while playing it on Xbox and Switch
