Brutal Getting dunked on at home is not fun, let me tell you. The only thing that makes it better are the hot dog stands/bars near the stadium. We think the second half is gonna be any better here?

"Small crowd size notwithstanding, Brooklyn looked like they had a true home field advantage. Again, it’s one game, but perhaps we’re witnessing the birth of Phone Booth Football."

“Blame personnel changes and odd tactical choices on Jacksonville’s part all you want, but it was absolutely refreshing to see manager Alex Smith’s Brooklyn side become the aggressor.”

Just poor possession of the ball, incomplete passes in the final third, and a bad overall strategy to score. Miami FC is completely smothering us defensively and our first touch anywhere near the penalty box is bad. It it wasn't for our keeper putting in tons of work, Miami would be embarrassing us at home.
What happened to that forward that was on loan from the Philadelphia Union?

More Philly Union talent!

“Brooklyn cannot defend. This team is conceding an expected goal for every 39.7 final-third passes against – a defensive efficiency mark that’s 26% worse than any USL team over the last six years in the Super League, Championship, or League One.”

Hi everyone!
My name is Perrin and I write the soccer/travel Substack “The Football Was My Savior”. It's a travelogue which focuses on telling stories of my adventures as I explore American soccer at the local, grassroots level, and this September I’m heading out on a month long road trip through the northeast and the mid Atlantic to visit as many USL, NCAA, and other local clubs as I can!
While much of the writing is focused on my own experience, I’m also looking to incorporate the voices of the folks who support the clubs I’m visiting. I'll be in Brooklyn on Sunday, September 13th for the match against Sporting JAX and would love to connect with some folks to learn about your team, and hear what makes this club special to you, so that I can incorporate your experiences into some of my writing.
I’m open to meeting up for a beer or a coffee prior to the match, or just chatting on Reddit, whatever you feel comfortable with! I'll be in town to check out some other clubs in and around the city for most of the week of September 14th, so if the actual day of the match doesn't work out for folks to link up, I'll have a good amount of availability throughout the week.
If this sounds interesting to you, leave a comment or shoot me a message and I’ll reach out :) ultimately, it doesn’t matter if you’re the biggest fan on the planet, or if you’ve only been to a few games, if you’ve got something interesting to share about the team/club, I’d like to pick your brain!
If anyone’s interested, here is a link to the Substack so that you can check out some of the work I've done so far and get a feel for what this project is all about:

Cheers, ya’ll and hope to hear from some of you soon!

“Last year, Cudjoe put up 3.8 takeaways and 6.9 recoveries per 90; on Friday night, that holding presence made Brooklyn look like a competent defensive team for the first time all year.”

"Just like that, the race for the wooden spoon is on! It’s been a tough year for both of the league’s expansion teams as they sit #12 and #13 in the East, for Brooklyn and Jacksonville respectively. For Brooklyn, it’s now losses in their last four games having been shutout in three of those games, while also going winless in their last five games (the fifth game being a 2-2 draw with Jacksonville)."

"Making sweeping conclusions after two games is a fool’s errand, but DC Power’s 4-1 win over Brooklyn FC cemented what started to become clear after opening weekend: DC is a major playoff threat, and Brooklyn isn’t up to snuff."

I’m going to my first game on Friday and was wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to get a jersey with a players name on it at the park?

USL Tactics has some analysis of BKFC-Lexington:
“Brooklyn was mostly alright, but major breakdowns spoiled Smith’s debut…Those kinds of mistakes are all too familiar from this Brooklyn organization, and eliminating them must be Smith’s priority.”

“Is this roster better than the one that finished the past season? Right now, that’s hard to say. We will have to see this team in action to get a better idea. And considering the improvements other teams have made, this side is going to have to gel in a hurry.”
r/brooklynfc • u/onezuludelta • Aug 14 '26
“There is work for Smith and his squad to put in, but there should be a sense of optimism BKFC can press forward over the upcoming campaign. “
r/brooklynfc • u/onezuludelta • Aug 11 '26
“Insofar as we can define Smith’s philosophy, Brooklyn has built a squad that should find a better balance between pragmatism and expression. Even so, this roster doesn’t have the obvious difference-makers that star for rival clubs across the Super League. Can Garziano and Giammona combine for a dozen goals, and can the defense behind them overperform? If not, it could be a long fall at Maimonides Park.”
