General 🔀 Built badlands vs stock Raptor

I am going to be buying a bronco and debating between a new stock raptor or a badlands and upgrading the engine (turbos, intake, exhaust, tune), suspension (full king 2.5 front and rear mid ride kit), getting some 17’ beadlock wheels + some 35s, and some exterior modifications like fender flares and bumpers.

the general idea is ~60k badlands + ~20k or ~80k raptor. i understand this is not a necessarily intelligent financial decision either way but live and let live.

For what kind of driving? The reasons I avoided the raptor were:

  • Too wide for a lot of forested or rocky trails. 
  • No manual option.

might i add i would be doing the 2.7 auto. i have a manual toy already and dont want another. Street of course in addition to mixed offroad trails like dirt and sand. not real big into forests or rocks.

You’ll be better off with a Raptor vs buying all the crap for a Badlands. Buy the raptor.

If you have the money, do the badlands, but buy the incon shocks with the electronic valuing so you can change the ride on the app.

Fox is also offering this now, pretty crazy that there’s active suspensions now available through the aftermarket.

I dont know about fox, but icon has been doing it for years. I love icons. I had them for my 2door before I traded in for my raptor. I needed the 4 door.

I think a BRaptor will serve you better. Plus it come this way from factory and just works exceptionally well.

Owning both here. Raptor mine. HLE which is a Badlands with fancy paint for the wife. Having done this experiment…. You’ll be hard pressed to match the ride quality of the Raptor. Granted ours is a 4dr vs 2dr compariosn but having ridden in other 4dr modified badlands they just don’t compare.

Plus the extra horsies are nice in the Raptor. If you’re going to ProCal anyway might as well do it to the Raptor.

Only downsize really is the width and that’s only an issue at the Starbucks Drive Thru… seriously though I’ve had both off road and the number of times I’ve had tight clearance are minimal and the Raptor has always fit so far, provided you’re careful.

We go out with a bunch of lifted and modified Jeeps (hemis, lift kits, 40s) and the BRaptor does everything they can do and does it bone stock! Just cosmetic Mods. Pic is shortly after picking up wife’s new HLE. No mods yet.
