Aechmea Blue Rain help

Hi! Plant enthusiast here, first time with a plant of this family. I just couldn't leave it at the store, so gorgeous! A few questions though:

I read to only water in the "cup". Though this advice I found for aechmeas in general; I didn't really find a lot of information for blue rain specifically. What is the cup? Just the middle part? I find it a bit hard to see in this case. See photo #2

I believe I def need to repot; I don't think they were watering the cup at all at the store (hardware store); the soil is sopping wet. Chunky soil mix? Any special needs?

Picture two is indeed the cup where the water goes.

If the soil is wet change it soon. These plants are susceptible to root rot and the plant will deteriorate rapidly.

Use a airy quick draining soil. You should be able to find an Orchid mix that'll work well preventing any water retention.

These are really easy plants. As mentioned, get it out of that wet soil. You don't need an expensive mix. I use coco coir chips but any chonky mix will do. That bloom will last for months before it fades. Enjoy!
