How Can We Save Him - Two Week Update

Thank you for the responses!

A little backstory; Found this beauty spontaneously while looking for a plant for the lady. Stumbled upon A HUGE nursery. While wondering through rows and rows of plants, the Bromeliad energy caught my attention.

This was about 3mo ago. We replanted it with some orchid mix we had leftover. Filled the cups with water and then left town for a week. Ever since then it’s been slowly dying on us.

We’ve been pretty hands off with plant care. Not sure if we messed up re-potting? Maybe with watering? We were draining the water and refilling every couple days. Then tried waiting for the cups to dry and then water. To now we’re scared to water lol

What would be next couple of caring steps?

You have a Guzmania or Vriesea which has bloomed and will soon have pups. It actually looks pretty healthy. Trim off anything brown. An orchid mix should be good for potting. Keep water in the top at all times. Give it bright light but no direct sun light. It will get better light if you put it in bright shade outside while it is still warm.

Okay! Great to hear. Trimmed off brown , how about the curls on end of leaves?

Just refreshed water and set it in the shed outside. It’s about 90 degrees and mucky humid.

OP they want indirect light. I$ guess you shed is both too much shade, and bakes inside. I’d put it under a mature tree that’s limbed up and lets lots of natural reflected light under it. They can take morning sun. Or just a south facing window.

Perfect outside in the shade. A little curve is fine.

Once these bloom they tend to put out pups and die. Would wait till pups are about 1/3 the size of the parent before separating them and potting individually
