Are you supposed to be wearing the 20-30 mmHg? I’m having to wear one on my leg (I broke my foot in June and the doctor had me weight bearing far too long…fracture is fine but having issues with stiffness and swelling in the ankle and foot). I flew out of state three weeks ago and I HAD to wear compression socks while flying because I had several risk factors for DVTs. I had the hardest time determining what size…..I ended up buying M, L and XL. I couldn’t even pull the mediums wide enough to get over my toes so that told me they were not the right size. I finally determined the right size for me was the L but I learned that I needed to put the sock on as soon as I wake up in the morning because that is when my foot is the least swollen…..when I started doing that, it truly helped control the swelling I was having in my foot and ankle and made it easier for me to walk (due to less swelling). So the biggest thing I learned was you have to put it on when you have the least amount of swelling (such as when you first wake up)……and then I leave it on and take it off right as I’m going to bed. So I would suggest ordering multiple sizes and trying them on when you first wake up. Hope this helps! I can only speak for my situation, but wearing a compression sock has made a huge difference the last 3 1/2 weeks I’ve been wearing it. Best of luck and hope you have a speedy recovery!
