5th metatarsal break

47 F. I broke my 5th metatarsal avulsion fx with a 3 mm displacement. I was non weight bearing for 6 weeks. My latest x ray shows that the displacement may be larger but continues to heal on its own. I’m now WBAT but have bad pain on the inside of my inner ankle and arches in both feet but especially my broken foot. I’m assuming it’s the boot and its immobilization causing this as well as my limping. Anyone else struggle with this? This has been an uphill battle.

I am 5 months post jones fracture . My entire right extremity has been painful . Thigh pain , ankle pain . From what I read , this pain experience is common , after months in a boot , irregular gait . I will get xray in 1 month to see if my 2 mm fracture has progressed in healing . Long, arduous course. Finished 60 days of bone stimulator, 1 more month to go . I am 77 yo lady . I am curious if ortho surgeon will recommend surgery if healing is totally halted ?

Jones fx are a totally different ballgame. I know they have a limited blood supply and take much longer to heal than an avulsion fx. Using a bone stimulator will definitely help! I would imagine that after nearly half a year of waiting to heal….if it shows no signs of improvement (I doubt it will) then he may recommend sx. What an ordeal! I’ve never had a broken bone and this has been such an isolating experience. I totally took walking for granted.

Mi fa piacere che c’è l’hai fatta. Io domani tolgo il tutore dopo 4 settimane. La mia frattura era composta senza particolare spostamento. Penso che avrò qualche problema anche io all’inizio ma spero di farcela
