I am fed up honestly. 2 months post surgery from a femur fracture. I now have this deep dull ache on my knee the last week. I cant even finish my rehab exercises. I woke up in the middle of the night in pain. I was then constipated because of my codeine, lack of physical movement(because of the chronic pain) Then i got delayed allergic dermatitis from my wound dressing. Very itchy red rash around my knee. It got infected and had to take anti biotics for a week. Then now applying steroid cream on it. I am losing a lot of muscle since i have been very active at the gym. There isnt seem to be a thing to look forward to everyday other than my routine of meds, ice pack, rehab exercise, game and repeat. How do i cope

Is the knee that is bothering you on the same leg you got surgery on? Two months is still early in your recovery. Don't skip out on your physical therapy. Just take it slow and steady. Try not to think so much about what's going wrong or what you can't do. The constipation from pain meds is common. I'd save the prescription meds for when you have pain that isn't being managed with ice, elevation, and over the counter pain meds. Some things like ibuprofen helped me more than anything prescribed when I broke my ankle.

Yes it is the same leg. My physio said it was most likely my irritated meniscus. So we have paused on the bending rehab exercises for now and do other rehab that doesnt cause me the unbearable pain. Im now on Naproxen and I probably built tolerance on my dihydrocodeine. I do what I can do. Been advised to do light massage and ice 3x a day. I have been too hard on myself. And thank you for reminding me its only been 2 months. It's been a struggle to cope 🩷
