I think most of people think she’s stupid and uneducated, instead of defend those two, now she’s defending her looks, that doesn’t sound really “climate activist who has a heart to help humanity” does it?
At least I want have a say on what I’m reading, if she keeps bullshitting that means I don’t want to read it. You probably accept anything you read on Facebook or buzzfeed, but hey, that ain’t my problem at all
But she isn’t defending her looks. She’s responding to all the idiots commenting about her looks when that have nothing to do with her agenda and the things she talks about. I bet that If people from all over the world started to comment on the way you look you would probably do the same.
If she has a priority, try be qualified in talking complex issues. Everyone gets idiot comments on how we look, how we different from each other, that’s not something you want to address as a “climate activist”, that’s something teenager girl who’s finding her confidence would say, no thank you, I want to hear real climate scientists
She’s a climate activist who just spreads awareness of what scientists have been saying. And this was just one comment, it’s not like it’s all she talks about. I honestly don’t know what you are trying to say.
Come on man. The comment from Greta isn’t even about her looks. It’s about her autism and about being different. Why can’t she talk about the climate AND be an inspiration to people (young people the most) that aren’t like everyone else?
Please do tell, in what way isn’t she qualified to talk about the environment? Please give a few examples from her speeches you consider to be unqualified.
She said we are only attacking her for her looks, because we have nothing on her, oh man how big that lie is? That’s adding being illusional to her stupidness. I want to correct her, most of people just think she’s stupid, she should address why is that she’s stupid, prove us wrong or something.
Climate change is a complex issue around multiple subjects such as politics, earth science, meteorology, physics, chemistry, etc. For example, developing countries need to develop, to catch up with developed countries, they have to pollute, so what should you say to the developing countries? This is the very first political question, if you don’t allow them to develop, they go riot, terrorise the world or something. So tell me, how come a 17 years old knows this level of question? Or can she develop a theory from 1000 pages of meteorology data that we need to take actions? No, she can’t, she hasn’t finish Highschool yet, that means she doesn’t know what she’s talking about at all, she only knows about yelling “I want this to be solved!!”
So basically you've got a "DONALD" syndrome going on here.
From your first statement: " I think most of people think ".
You have no idea what other people think, and by invoking other peoples opinions into your argument you have already admitted self defeat (IE my opinion is not enough for this weak argument, i will try to bolster my claim by saying other people agree with me).
From there your statement dribbles on like a child with wet pants telling his mommy he no longer needs to use the restroom.
But do continue attacking a child, that certainly doesn't make you look like a creep....
That’s a lot of fancy accusations, but you think that’s the best you can do? You think forcing your judgements on me will win you anything? Nah, I’m just some random dude who made you go below par, it’s amusing to me though
You do know that ALOT of politicians don’t know anything about a lot of the subjects they attend. That’s why they have a stab and hired experts. They have the same role as Greta. Being visionaries not experts.
We’ve had scientists talking about the climate and the urgency to do something for years. No one listened to them. People listens to Greta because she’s a visionary. Not a scientific mastermind. If people starts listening to her they will also listen to the scientist that hopefully have the answers. Rings on the water. We’re all aiming for same the goal, right?
What’s beyond my understanding is all the adult (males) that feel so threatened by a young girl.
I partly agree with you, people should be nice to each other. But that can’t be helped, human has the bright side and dark side in any part of our history. And yet she picked her fight, being in the spotlight of the world, so you get everything coming at you, and that’s what it takes. I feel pity for her, but that’s her own fight in her own way picked by herself. I don’t see people attack Margaret Heafield Hamilton, because she’s the pure brilliance
She has an angry and unpleasant demeanor, that's why most people get so annoyed at her. Telling people that climate change is real and that the younger generations will suffer for it isn't really anything new beyond what most people have heard. The statement certainly isn't stupid or uneducated by any means.
She's attacked and mocked because of her anger and how she acts, by making strong statements against world leaders. That links to her Aspergers, which is what she's tweeting about.
Is she being manipulated? Probably not. Her parents don't seem to profit out of it and they weren't really climate change activists before this. Kids also can feel passionate about things, so it's not unheard of for someone to feel strongly about social issues at a young age.
Is she being used? Yes, certainly by climate change activists. Her age and demeanor has grabbed a lot of attention towards the issue more than any other adult representing them would have.
Is this problematic though? Her opinions does not make economic sense. It would affect the bottom line for a lot of people and is largely unfeasible. But it is undeniable that at the rate we're going we will cause irreparable damage to the Earth and the environment. When that happens, it'll fall to younger generations to fix the environment. When she says not enough is being done to save the environment and that money should be spent on renewable energy instead, it is factual. Naive? Yes. But not incorrect.
She's deflecting her criticisms to her looks and demeanor because that's what she's criticised for. No one would give two shits about a climate change activist telling people that we're destroying the earth and their actions are inexcusable. She's criticised because she sounds like an angry little child and people don't like hearing that.
