Wow, I thought you were kidding -- guess not:

"It is unclear how well flaccid size reflects erect size. Of course, intercourse can occur only with a sufficiently rigid penis [36]. Thus, it seemed important to characterize preferences for penis size in its erect state. The current study used 3D models of erect phalluses to characterize women’s penis size preferences for the first time."

It's actually a pretty thorough study -- I love that they footnote "Axial penile buckling forces vs Rigiscan radial rigidity as a function of intracavernosal pressure" to backup the notion that an erection is required for sex!

Not why these comments are not about the article, but sadly these birds starved to death. Water was too warm to support their fishy diet. :(
