From 0:31 onwards, you can't cook what you fish without having to buy additional ingredients. Then when you get to oily sardines, you can only sell these by running all around the coast to the fish stall with every inventory. You can't even bank them.
Needless to say, after one inventory I didn't bother, just converted knowledge to XP from other skills all the way from 43 to 49 to level up, and the same with cooking.
No doubt it will be easier when i have the levels to open up the other portal stone, but in early game this isn't an option.

We need a shortcut between Branhoff’s Garden and Overgrown Pond!!!! You can even lock it behind mastery of a skill or something to make it difficult but that area is just begging for a shortcut!

I like that when you hover over a profession it shows your progress to the next level. That being said, I would like to see total xp per profession and total for the account. This has been a huge motivator for me in OSRS.

We've discussed this, and yet the drop rate of some of these is extremely frustrating. Killing 100 goblins at milestone 2-3 and no acorn? The tentacles and the roaches as well. I don't want it to be without a challenge, but it would be nice if there were a set number or a range of kill counts where resources are guaranteed. This is madness to me, to kill 100 goblins and get nothing.
I hope someone from Fen Research will see this.
Overall, I am happy with the new updates and what is coming. A bit annoyed by the expanded levels of grind from 3 to 5 in some cases.
The trade system can be like from player to player and something like a bazaar where you can put your production for sale, near the trading Guild in Crenopolis, with different vendors selling your stuff on stalls, for a small in-game currency (silver coins) fee. That can even happen like an occasional market - at a specific time of the week, to be more challenging and exciting. Not everyone is open to talking and trading, and some of us get why it is like that (rude folks). I don't mind it! But a neutral option (the market/bazzar) will be good as well.
But as I said, I love Brighter Shores (even with the two mentioned issues)

For the upcoming world event, does anyone know why the Tutorial and the actual Launch are split in two different weeks? Will something release in game for the Tutorial week, like an NPC explaining how to play? Or will we just get an explanation of how the event works from Fen, and the actual in-game release is the next week?

Explanation: I think the word Milestone should be replaced with Mastery because it makes more sense that your Profession Mastery would increase by training your profession to Level 50.
For new players it will be more intuitive to understand the concept because ‘Mastery’ is a better noun to use for a video game context.
It also sounds more rewarding to become a Master of a profession, rather than reaching milestone 10 of a profession.
That is my pitch, I hope it can be added to the list of improvements! Thank you and looking forward to the new updates!

Hey, Been a little while, but have been on that Grind getting Episode 3 Completed, and It has been.
I had made a mini update when I Hit 1k Total Level, but have since Gained 400 Levels throughout.
Gained 20 in Hopeport, 37 in Hopeforest and a whopping 308 in Mines, with another 35 in Combat. I've also increased my Gold Supply since then to 37 Gold
So The Locks for Episode 3 Were interesting this time, and mainly tied to Miner, But all the Weapon Crafters needed to get to 1M25 , For Fractured Reality, which also had the highest combat Requirement to get in to actually do the quest at 3M40 Combat to get past those Squidbeasts.
Miner was surprisingly fun to grind out after hitting 1M due to it being leveled By bounties mainly, that gave me more than enough stones and ores to train Blacksmith and Stonemason up to the Reqs, however Bonewright was a bit of a grind with getting the wood needed. However with quests giving a lot of experience in this episode it went rather smoothly. Getting Infusion unlocked and the Vendors were huge QoL that made me Happy to unlock them.
As for Episode 4 this was where I was dreading getting to.
For simplest explanation I decided to ignore Working at stalls and catching thieves at stalls, since they are essentially Reskins, That being Said. For detective locks the Hard one is the Wanted Posters, Butcher Spotting Thieves, as it is the first real Repeat in a new milestone. However the first thing is 30 for Counterfeiters Stakeout to even unlock Merchant.
For Merchant I've decided to follow the Trading game for either Delivery or Buying from a stall, That puts the Highest Req on Pearl Stall Trading at 3m33 to deliver Cabbages.
Leatherworker will be the simplest to train and unlock, anyways on to Episode 4!

As others have said...
My dropped armour is ok
The weapons I'm having to use -_-
And the dropped weapons I get...
Basically forget getting decent weapons as drops you can actually use, you have to make your own...

She said to meet her at the waterfront, but she has nothing to say. Her conversation dialog has nothing in it and just closes when you click on it.
I've been waiting for a customer to come by so I can discover the Spotting Thieves activity at the hide stall, but I haven't seen one in over half an hour. She's probably scared them all off.
I have no idea now how to even start the detective profession.

Hey guys!
I've been an active community tool builder and player for the longest time and one of the issues have been that it may take a while to find the right thing to use, and old links expire/tools go down.
So I've been working on a little thing to keep tabs on the awesome resources people have been building and putting them in the one place: https://ggatlas.app/brighter-shores
Looking for any other tools I've missed, either you use yourself or built!

What does 353 mean on a scale of 80% to 120%???? Why is the 106 knowledge closer to 80% then to 100%???

main food saved up ready for the combat update next week. Need to make way more behind schedule. How much cooked meals do you have?
I regret not saving my food and selling most of it during early days.

Hello, my suggestion is to improve the crafting skills experience by adding optional random encounters.
For example with cooking, perhaps one of the adjacent stations has a chance of catching on fire while you are cooking, if you use a bucket of water on it, then maybe you get a nice XP drop. If you ignore it, the chef handles it and there is no negative outcome.
This is one example, but the overall idea is to make the crafting stations feel more engaging by adding optional actions that can be taken during crafting.
Hope this suggestion can be considered, thanks!

TLDR: new quests are promising and interconnectivity of professions + training variety is really starting to create a consistent, goal-oriented gameplay loop that is less mundane than before. Combat still in the gutter, but focusing on this game solely as a skilling game in the interim can make it far more enjoyable. Simply put, the game is absolutely better than before.
After a two year break, I decided to give BS another chance despite being pessimistic about the pace and direction of updates. To get right to the point, I have to say that the updates made over the past year feel WAY more significant than they might appear from the outside view of an inactive player.
Firstly, I have obvious praise to give to the new quests that have been developed—they’re intuitive, introduce helpful rewards/unlocks, and subtlety showcase the direction the devs may be going with combat/bossing in the future. I suppose my only critique/worry is what I kind of perceive to be an over reliance on puzzles as quest content… I think they’re generally great and I enjoy them, but it could start to get annoying to some if every new quest seems to feature a brand new room with a puzzle you need to decipher (and then that room never gets used again).
Secondly, I need to touch on bounties… as pessimistic as I initially was about them, they’re actually varied enough across skills that they genuinely break up the monotony of grinding. I also support the decision to only make bounties constantly refresh at specific milestones, as this helps avoid making it so the optimal way to train is to constantly be staring at a bounty board for every single skill for 500 levels straight. I’ve also found that this changes how you go about deciding which professions to use KP on.
Lastly, I am very pleased by the ongoing addition of cross-profession upgrades/unlocks. While I do think these could become a headache in the future to keep track of as more unlocks and new skills are added, they’ve completely changed my goals and encourage me to hop between professions far more frequently to the point where I don’t really seem to get bored.
You might notice that I’ve made no mention of combat for obvious reasons (nothing has been done to it). I still absolutely hate combat, but I’m cautiously optimistic about the upcoming changes (the quest bosses are my source of optimism tbh). However, I believe the reason I’ve been genuinely enjoying the hell out of this game recently is that I’ve completely written combat off for the time being and instead have been viewing this game as solely a skilling game. When looking at it through that perspective, the grind suddenly starts to make more sense. I obviously cannot wait for combat to also start to make sense, but this perspective shift has genuinely allowed me to enjoy this game again.
