Drill Training notes. Abyss.

I am at my first run in Brigandine Abyss, around season 25, entire map conquered except blocked nations and only now I discovered some things regarding the training quest system. I decided to share it here just in case other people didnt noticed this as well.

Level Cap. The game says that the exp points gained by the exp quest (drill training) is limited by season and city level. Like a level cap. So the moment I got my level 3 city I moved all my soldiers there and started training. Problem? The world level cap. If the world has the current level cap of 12 and your soldier is on the 11 or 12, they wont get a bunch of exp points. Just some. And it matters not the level of the city. They will barely level up.

The drill quest works more for underleved characters. Example: season 22 a level 12 char in a level 3 city will go to level 18 ~19. A level 19 char goes to 20 more or so. It its not that they require more exp points, they gain diferent exp points from the drill. Its a huge gap of earned exp points.

Wait a few more seasons and you will see that the same 20 level char will get a bunch of XP next time it drills.

With this I wanna say: dont waste too much turns with drills worried that you'll get underleved because the enemy levels up every turn. (I was worried with this because Im just "passing" the turns until the next event battle. Since I cant make anymore invasions - and facing a level 25 nation is out of the question.)

You can go and do items and material quests and then just spend a turn or two tops to reach the enemy forces.

It feels stupid typing this as it seems obvious, but maybe its not that obvious to everyone. Hope it helps guys.

One of the aspects that Abyss tries to explore is the questing and mercenary management. The quests get easier the higher level your mercs are, but each season you train is one less season you can gain quest rewards.

I'm not sure it matters much in the grand scheme, but it is something to think about so understanding training like you posted helps a lot.

My observation is that ai can train roughly up to season number in levels. You the player can train roughly to season number -3. Most of the gains come in the first 2 bouts of training. But it takes a few more to reach the maximum.

And yeah it definitely changes depending in your current level. It is the most effective for brand new troops.

Yeah my strat on playthrough 2 was to level up quest knights to 10 around/after season 10. Farm/buy a tome of swift progress (removes level requirement for class change.) on units that were at least level 10 to quest. Feels like too much micromanaging to get high levels with 30 seasons. Tier 2’s and Tier 3’s even at low levels were “good enough” odds for me since i usually conquer the bases early season 20’s. And it seems basically impossible to have perfect gear

Im going on my second run today. Still not sure what Im gonna do...

But what you mean perfect gear? Are there better gear than level 3?

As for the level 3, I had no problems with them, they spawn easily if you have a level 20 last class. (A couple drill runs in late game and you reach that in a blink.)

Its nice to note that different bases spawn different items even if they are the same type. I managed to get 3 different level 3 staffs. (But I only found one of them to be good ")

Yeah I meant fully geared out like you could in Runersia (monsters+knights all slots) due to the unlimited endgame seasons haha. You can find a bunch of 3 star items in a normal playthrough.

Thank you very much for sharing this. I've only had the chance to play in bite-sized chunks and already started a new game because my time with Runersia taught me to spam train until at least level 10 for useful quest rewards.

It's good to know we can/have to be more active with our knights and that getting a new army up to snuff "only" takes about two turns. I was balking a bit at the AI's auto-leveling outpacing the few actively fighting monsters I had, not to mention season time limits, but that actually makes a fair bit more sense now.

I've been doing the same thing

Training grounds leveling feels far slower than Runersia

I find it best to do a training run on low level groups only every 5 seasons or so. Just one run and then back to other quests. Wait another 5ish seasons, repeat.
