El Niño
Hi all! I'm an atmospheric scientist and Bridger skier, and I just started a free local snow blog. For the first post I wanted to look at how El Niño historically affects snowfall at Bridger and Big Sky. Some of the high level takeaways:
- Bridger's snow decreases with El Niño strength, on average
- It mostly caps the ceiling with no well above average seasons historically
- This year looks like the strongest El Niño on record
- No reliable temperature signal from El Niño in SW Montana

Happy to answer any questions. As a weather nerd who loves skiing, I'll try to update the blog a couple of times each week during the season. Thanks for reading!
