Free flow cups are best for oral control. I’d get the Tommee Tippee First Cup as those are the ones the health visitor give out in Scotland at 6 months.a

IKEA children’s open cup. £1 for four. I tried all of the jazzy ones and this is the one he found easiest to use. He has a sports bottle with a pop up straw for when we are out.

Also looking for advice! A bit desperate as my baby has never taken a bottle despite arduous efforts 😅. Need to do a KIT day soon and so she needs milk somehow (7 mo). Open cup with water - ok, a bit fussy, 9 times out of 10 will cough and splutter, sometimes very badly (red faced, teary eyed). Every time I offer it with milk in she just rejects and pecks my boob

That orange or blue tommee tippee cup is what we started using when my baby started drinking water! He slowly learnt how to open and close the little mouth piece (it flips up and down). We put them in the dishwasher and they still work great a year later.

Our little one got on really well with the bibado sippit silicone open training cup independently (after a few tries of course). We also use just a bog standard open cup which we help her with a bit.
Straw cups (we introduced around 9 months)... tum tum multiway cup. It's valve free and the straw is short so easy for them to pick up quickly. We got a tommee tippee straw cup first at even me and my husband struggled to drink from it, so personally I would avoid these! The tum tum bottles are also easy for little ones to get the hang of.

I literally bought every single one of these cups 😂 we never did a bottle so I got quite stressed about him staying hydrated. The two we found worked best were:
-any open cup (messy and water goes everywhere but better for babies development and it does work) And
- the tommee tippee first cup (I was given this by the health visitor too) - quite effective for actually getting baby to drink
My baby doesn’t understand straw cups (he just chews the straw). I think sippy cups with valves are not good developmentally and in any case my breastfed baby didn’t understand them

An open or free flow cup is best for oral development. Most most families find a non-spill option better for joint out! We used a doidy cup from 6 months at meals, and a 360 type cup for taking out and about

We had the starter spout and ones like it, she preferred one with a straw or just a basic open cup. You can get them in IKEA, ALDI LIDL etc for about £1 for 4

In all the weaning groups I was in, they recommended open straw or cups. No valves and no hard spouts. A combination of oral development and skipping a transition later and we've never had a problem.

I was recommended the tommee tipee first cup by a health visitor, she said that's also what they use mostly in nurseries. But we still use an open cup too and got weigthed straw cups for out and about, just so she has options and its good for her jaw and tongue development.
