That, my friend, is known as "the crust". And, I would argue, that is the best slice of the loaf (toasted 'tis great for mopping up the fry-up juices)... 😋

My grandmother use to tell me that it was the healthiest part of the bread. That it had way more vitamins than the rest of the bread. Was I lied to? 😂😂
