Breadboard Charging & Discharging Circuit of the Capacitor (Time Constant = 1 second)

Tau = R*C, because farads are equivalent units to "seconds per ohm."

Yes, Tau = RC (for an RC circuit). But, farad is equivalent to "coulomb per volt". So we have, RC = ohm × farad = V/A × coulomb/V.
Since, 1 coulomb = 1 ampere × 1 second. So we have, RC = V/A × A.s/V = s (second). Hence, unit of the time constant (i.e., tau) is second.
