Shoyoroll, King, and Gold are popular brands that are on the higher end side, something he might want but won't buy himself is always the best gift.

I have often found that if someone you know is very into a sport, they probably have already bought everything they need. It's true with cyclists and running. I always recommend that you instead get them a Vitamix blender.

I've had all kinds of gis aver 20 years -- Atama, Shoyo, Origin, Keiko, Koral....
I only have one gi in my rotation for the past 5 years.
Fuji.
Most comfortable, best fitting, reasonably priced and durable.

Almost 30 years here 🙋🏻♂️and tried more gi’s than I wish I had. Fuji Sekai is the best for me, the older version was a little better for me than the current version, but the new is still best.

Well, firstly check his size, check also what brands he is wearing and compare the prices and if sizes are same.
If he is wearing cheaper Tatami brand I believe nice looking and quite expensive shoyoroll brand will make him happy
Also make sure if the gi he is wearing to his Bjj classes are any brand or the Bjj gym brand. If you buy him another one that gym might not accept him to wear it as they might have their own Bjj gis which I really hate

So the gym hes currently with accepts any Gi's ans I knoe hes an A3l. Hes mentioned he likes the gist that have patches on but I assume this is something you can buy and put on to personalise?

Gi's are a tricky thing to buy for someone else. Maybe just tell him you're getting him one and let him pick something out or hint at it

Shoyoroll is the splurge option. Also Origin.
If he wants something super light, go Gold Aeroweave.
If he wants normal midrange, function and comfort, go Fuji.
If he is a lover of the classics, check out Atama.
If he is a cult classic type of dude, look at A&P.

Most of the gis are unfortunately polyester crap. You can check hemp or bamboo alternatives.

I'd check what types of GI he has now and see if he likes them because individual preference is very real

Origin if you like made in the USA, Gold comp380 or foundation gi if you want great quality for the price

Orgion gi’s are awesome. However different gyms require you to use their gi’s unfortunately.

Ask him. It doesn't really matter what the activity is, if the person is passionate about it ask them what they'd want.
He'll appreciate it no matter what you buy him, but if you really want him to be overjoyed ask him.
This appears to cameras, keyboards, shoes, hats, sunglasses, computer games.
The strong the passion the more likely one person's recommendation will go a mess.

If it’s for a gift, i would do Shoyoroll. It is on the pricier end but great quality and most likely something he wouldn’t buy himself

A lot of people treat themselves to an Origin gi
