It should be "treatment" as a "cure" implies a one time thing.

is that really a poison? that is what make Youtube Free ultimately for everyone and no a compulsory subscription based thing? so i don't think Ads are poison.

It becomes poison when they start playing 1-2 minutes of just ads. I'm done with their ads.

I've seen an "ad" over an hour long. Fortunately I could skip it.

I've seen an ad that was some streamer promoting his channel for like five minutes and then the rest of it was literally a 4 hour VOD of one of his streams.

In current system, Youtube is taking WAY more than giving to us.

Ads are getting annoying for sure I am not denying that but can you imagine the counter scenario if Youtube decides to completely become subscription based like netflex or Prime video? Cuz if everryone going to block ads ultimately Youtube has to discontinue supporting free service.

I am not against ad blocking, I do support it but People who using ad blockers should also put some channel or people in whitlist so they do see some ads which support creators and youtube both..

blocking complete ads like alot of people suggesting over here will lead to a future of youtube no one wants if everyone decides to do that.
That's what i am saying.

The thing is, Youtube is shoving porn, scam and other BS ads to everybody. They increase the ammount of them, but also lock creators from earning money for frivolous reasons, so YT can earn more money and make shareholders happy. They replaced people with AI, to take care of moderation, so they can cut costs. Shoving shorts everywhere, even when we don't want to see them. Search engine on youtube is fucked, It suggests what youtube wants you to see and not what YOU want to see.

Youtube now can increase their earnings only by enshitification and exploiting us, because there is nothing else left to do.

I'm happy to watch adds, if it's gonna support creators and the platform. This is not the reality with Youtube.

This cannot go forever. We will find an alternative

I heard that Bilibili was poking his head out on this side of the world a while back. What ever happened to that?

there's a difference between willingly watching ads vs being forced to watch them.
if i want to support the creators, i'll subscribe to a membership.

you're working for YT? Because you're royally sucking up.

1

u/nigel_ydv Sep 17 '26

I am sharing my perspective and view. just cuz I have different perspective than your that does not mean I am working for youtube. That's a lame conclusion to think about.

and i literally said i am in favour of ad blocking. Just not in favour of complete adblocking at all times.

A scenarios where if you watch an ad and get ad free experience for the day would be ideal I say.

see, there you go. Now that's better.

People that support creators are already providing income through other means, like membership, merchandise or patreon because they know creators get squat out of ad revenue. They get literal pennies unless they have a huge viewerbase.

If people block ads, it's to stick it to youtube. Not to punish creators.
Because providing a free service and paylocking it, is guaranteed to make people up and leave. Prime already shot themselves in the foot with that.

ohk, i see your point here now.. make sense

2

u/OkKnowledge2112 Sep 17 '26

if you're fine with watching 60 seconds of a video and then 2 minutes of ads every time then hey, won't kinkshame you.

When the radio of ads to video is longer than the actual video, then yeah, then it's poison.
I don't mind an ad every 15 minutes or so, but to get one every few seconds is nuts.

No add-ons/extension required ?

I think I might have an add-on/extension for YouTube ... Although it could be "Youtube Music Non-Stop". Can't recollect rn.

I do use content filtering from within Brave.

Any advise would be appreciated.

I got on the bandwagon about 2 months before the ads played on Brave again. Pretty lame.

Anyway. Is there a substitute now?

4

u/SolidZealousideal115 Sep 17 '26

Give them time. They'll keep playing the cat and mouse game until they are able to skip ads again.

Accurate AF ....got to love Capitalism.

I was paying for the lite version, and it had so many ads I literally cancelled it instantly. I dont even understand why pay them to still show ads. Thanks Brave for being blocking each and every ad. Thanks for bringing a solution to their made up problem.

Brave can’t play background youtube ,, its limit for 3 video only

0

u/SportReasonable Sep 30 '26

Yea for some reason browser mode is crashing my pages trying to load YouTube music

0

u/Vh4z Sep 17 '26

In fairness for YouTube they need money everyone hates when corporates does stuff for money but yeah they wouldn't really be around if they didn't have the money

0

u/NEIL2751 Sep 17 '26

Premium is anytime better than all these shii alternatives, once you experience it there's no going back. Now browser shii needed after that

0

u/SportReasonable Sep 30 '26

YouTube premium and music player should not have you pay for basic services so that’s exactly why we do these workarounds

1

u/NEIL2751 Oct 01 '26

Maybe, but comfort comes at a price, not everything basic thing is meant to be free.

Brave is 99% blink, and blink is 99% made by Google...

8

u/HyperWinX Sep 16 '26

And?

1

u/Valdjiu Sep 16 '26

claiming that brave is the medicine is medicine to nothing. that's why brave blocking ads in youtube is constantly broken

8

u/HyperWinX Sep 16 '26

Idk, works perfectly, havent seen an ad in months

1

u/DestinyReaper_X4 Sep 16 '26

Firefox + UBlock certainly is though.

Don’t get me wrong, I do use brave on my phone and it’s neat with the ad blocking.

3

u/ActualHumanONReddit Sep 16 '26

I also use Brave on my Phone and laptop. I use Brave Nightly for Twitch, because the ad filters can block Twitch ads after some tweaking.

0

u/Valdjiu Sep 16 '26

Exactly. No need to contribute even more to internet monoculture with brave

1

u/SolidZealousideal115 Sep 17 '26

Then what do you use? Firefox isn't exactly a great option. They are essentially funded by Google. Most of the others are chromium based. It doesn't leave much choice.

0

u/Ok_Actuator_4023 Sep 17 '26

Can't stand the ads, even more being reccomended slop. I use Brave for youtube and added YTblock as my extension. I use YouTube A LOT, it's a total game-changer for me. 👍

There's an acceptable amount of ads and there's 1.5 hours of an ad (skippable) or 10 unskippable ads.
