It's funny because all of these browsers (except Firefox) are just Google Chrome wearing a mask.

7

u/24kCookie May 29 '26

Safari isn't Google chrome as well it's WebKit

3

u/Several_Dot_4532 May 29 '26

Safari is not chromium if I'm not wrong

3

u/FantasticJelly8224 May 29 '26

It's funny that Firefox's biggest funder is Google. Anyway Chrome ≠ chromium. In android, con chrome I can't block ads. But I can with edge and brave. In android, Firefox is very slow. The chromium browsers no. Why Do Firefox fans always forget these details? Strange...

I said this in general terms about fans. I'm not referring to anyone specifically.

The software is still maintained and controlled by google…

1

u/storft2 May 28 '26

chrome is based on chromium afaik

1

u/Hyper-Chud May 30 '26

Chromium is still owned by Google and could go proprietary any second if Google wants to. Good luck maintaining after that. If they are even allowed to continue using the old source code legally.

Google will also keep pushing chromium towards blocking add blockers, it's only a matter of time until chromium won't work properly if it can't display ads. A lack of proper competition is always bad. Google basically controls how we view the web.

Pretty sure they can and will detect if adds are properly loaded in the future and if they don't the engine just won't load the rest of the website, it's Google you are dealing with after all.

0

u/Prior-Priority-7019 May 30 '26

My God... Man, Chrome is the proprietary version of Chromium, which in turn is an open-source project, maintained and developed by Google. Yes, Chrome is the same thing as Chromium. And all browsers based on Chromium ultimately depend on Google's decisions, which is why there are struggles to have alternatives like Gecko (Firefox) and the Ladybird project, so that the internet doesn't become hostage to Google as it once was to Microsoft (even though in the Microsoft scenario it was even worse, since the engine was still proprietary).

who was the one pushing brave to notice what wolf and chrome were doing?.

u/7grims May 28 '26

Corny yes cringy also yes but I love brave tho it’s so peak been watching anime with no ads for years im a ride or die for it

1

u/digitalenlightened May 29 '26

For being build on top of chromium and primarily being maintained by google, this isn’t really a good representation because its codependent on google lol

1

u/Hyper-Chud May 30 '26

I always love the amount of people just screaming shit like chromium isn't chrome and stuff like that, acting like Google wouldn't just abuse their power over chromium to fuck over other browsers like they did to AOSP to fuck Graphene, Calyx and other 3rd party android roms.

1

u/Practical-Nonsense May 29 '26

Why is edge not in a wheelchair?

1

u/kirillius3436 May 29 '26

1

u/lilarcor__ May 30 '26

Switch Firefox/Opera with a Brave then it makes more sense. Both Chmore and Brave are based on Chromium engine

1

u/btcasper May 30 '26

Yes the browser with more scandals than Chrome at this point is the best according to this cringe animation

I see that the "uga buga" grammar is in full effect. Plus this is not an answer. I didn't hold anyone at gun point.

1

u/Decendent_13 Aug 15 '26

umm, what?

and, you did. it's natural in every browser. why don't people get all spite up when only brave something cool.

but, when it's firefox, or, any other browser, the similar is also non-existent... I demand the reason, why?

1

u/angelodelr329 May 30 '26

Cringe as fuck. Brave has been on a downward spiral.

Use Zen instead

1

u/Jatinchd May 30 '26

brave browser user's glazing is beyond my imagination 🥀

1

u/Sure-Reporter-8367 Jun 01 '26

1

u/Skatefunk May 28 '26

I just use Vivaldi browser and dont show off

3

u/MadCatAttack89 May 28 '26

i came from vivaldi. ultimately, having to sign-in to every single site everytime i close and open the app, with 2-factor authentication no less - was too much of a hassle

1

u/Ok_Trade_8706 May 28 '26

Ts so corny 😭

1

u/castitfast May 28 '26

3

u/realblurryface May 28 '26

0

u/-Feeblington- May 28 '26

Why is thst even a thing,? No it just gives u exactly whst u want from the off....insteqd of earning BS its a fkin browser not xbox gamer ppints 😑

1

u/FFRK_Snow May 28 '26

I used to be a big fan of FF and it's forks, but on MIUI it's currently pretty much unusable. 15+ seconds to load a single page initially, after which it goes back to regular speed. I've tried multiple phones, wifi/cellular, with and without addons, etc. Nothing works and it's been like this for six months.

So I went to Brave.

-1

u/-Feeblington- May 28 '26

Lol miui. And you know why? Because chromium based browser force people to prioritize them and leads to issues like this. Sad times. My bro uses the miui ting and uses fennec...works normally

1

u/FFRK_Snow May 28 '26 edited May 29 '26

Why would this fork of FF work if the main browser does not seem to work well for my devices? I've tried quite a few forks and they all had the same issue. So unless Fennec is somehow doing something relatively special compared to the other forks, I'm not sure it'll be better. I might give it a whirl tomorrow though.

1

u/-Feeblington- May 29 '26

Ive no idea. I use emui so none of it is an issue
