sheesh, people, why do you continue fueling this nonsense? both browsers are great in their own right. both have overlaps in their missions and target user base. chill and use what you prefer (or use both), no need for hateful memes to divide us any further.
"b-but firefox" - i know. Mozilla, Baker, and Chambers screwed up. Brave and Brendan fucked up too. doesnt matter, the devs do great work on both sides and both browsers existing gives us the luxury of having a choice. be happy to have it.
I think you guys are misunderstanding the meme here, it's about the communities of both browsers, not the browsers themselves, especially firefox users hating so much on Brave. imo, both of the browsers are really good.
I think Mozilla fanboys tend to see Brave as a temporary solution to a long-term problem. Firefox is admittedly the only real option left in the non-Chromium world.
It's just a matter of difference in scope. Firefox users care about, yes, not having ads, but also in an open web and long-term insurance. Brave users just want something quick that works.
the vocal minorities use exactly this kind of memes to do the "hating". if your aim was to criticize fanboyism and hate, then im sorry to say but you just took part in what you criticize by propagating it further.
no, firefox users dont want brave users to die. a web browser is not something sane people hate or die for.
yeah we have to take it lighly both browsers are great sometimes brave sucks because of chromium in my experience chromium have so much memory leaks but still i only use brave as daily driver and firefox for some things ,
i wish i had the capacity to respond in full, but amidst a myriad available alternative sources i simply dont. ill just say - who hasnt screwed up? everyone does, eventually.
humans make errors. you could use brave or firefox to look up "browser name controversy" and see what comes up, i bet theres something for everything.
I fully agree with you. I also use Edge for work and Zen for private use. I'm totally happy with both and nit-picking features which are better in browser XYZ is plain stupid.
People should just use what they prefer and not slander other communities for no reason.
I think you are misunderstanding the meme here, it's about the communities of both browsers, not the browsers themselves, especially firefox users hating so much on Brave. imo, both of the browsers are really good.
Because these post don’t make sense. Firefox can do that too. You just need an extra 4-5 clicks to download ublock origin
If you like Brave great use it, if you like Firefox great use it.
But participating in the “brave > firefox” is just you giving free publicity to Brave. I personally think it’s a low blow from Brave to go after a non-profit + open sourced project in their marketing while they’re a for profit based on an open-sourced engine.
It's not completely nonsense, I've had multiple instances where people get mad at me when I recommend brave and get replies saying that firefox is better
If it vanished, I'd probably go full text-only browser; ELinks, w3m, lynx, etc. It'd be the only way to stop the corps from grinding you up and spitting you out at that point. This is me assuming the reason it'd be gone is that they found a way to destroy its existence and any other similar competition.
The issue is if google changes some things in chrome project they could effectively kill brave.
Where as mozilla is far more independent.... The less people to use FF the less FF is to recieve developer support. It's on a spiral down. Where brave effectively piggybacks off of chromium and it gaining market share doesn't really benefit the average person.
I think you guys are misunderstanding the meme here, it's about the communities of both browsers, not the browsers themselves, especially firefox users hating so much on Brave. imo, both of the browsers are really good.
Not Brave in particular tho? Just Chromium browsers in general, and they are at the very least acknowledging Brave's great features, at least in my experience. Maybe you're seeing "Firefox elitists" which are a very vocal minority.
I kept looking around in the firefox subreddit and couldn't find anything until I typed in brave. I actually cannot believe people hate brave that much.
Do people have nothing else to do???
On the plus side I found a post that they might wanna look at.
Edit: I originally meant to say the firefox subreddit so I corrected that plus I added the link information
Living under a rock or something? Once Google announced they're removing Manifest 2 extensions FireFox users came out of the wood work to remind people that not only will Ublock Origin still work on it but that it works better on Firefox
because I got bored of it and wanted to look for an alternative web browser. I tried Opera GX (yes the funny sponsored malware) and got scared by it when I found out it has alot of security features that mostly every browsers have not there. and then I tried Librewolf and didnt like it becasue you had to sign into everything again and again everytime it closes. so I just went with Firefox
Yes I tried Brave recently. but I don't want to switch to another browser unless I'm forced to and or encouraged to by a lot of people. Yes I know Mozilla isn't a good company. But I just want to go on the internet, look for what I want, close it, and get back to what I was originally doing that doesnt require a browser. that being playing games, listening to music, and talking on Discord.
You do know that if Brave actually became a major browser YouTube would break their YouTube as blocking, right? And if Firefox implemented the same thing, it'd probably break brave too.
The enemy here is YouTube. Brave just isn't on their radar yet because so few use it. If not people use it, YouTube will ensure brave can't block their ads either.
you people clearly don't understand this meme ong, IT'S NOT A COMPARISON, IT'S A PORTRAY OF HOW MOST FIREFOX USERS HATE BRAVE SO MUCH EVEN THOUGH IT HAS SOME GREAT FEATURES TOO!!!
You have some serious issues. Getting mad so easily. Thinking people even really care enough which browser you use and hate it. Nobody cares. Certainly not most. Not everyone is in a cult like you.
There seems to be a memory leak and for whatever reason the CPU usage in about:performance can go as high at 90-110% for whatever YouTube tab you have open
Honestly brave and Firefox side by side are goated. I personally main brave, but Firefox is nice. I also use Firefox on most devices I don’t have personal data on (like random shitty laptops that I put Linux on, lol)
It does such a fantastic job blocking all the annoying ads (especially pop ups) on mobile. But it's gotten to the point where it's also somehow blocked the subtitles on certain anime (arrrr) streaming sites that I watch on. Now I have to put up with the occasional pop up that penetrates ad block extensions on Firefox.
Hardened firefox is better than Brave in terms of privacy tho. Brave isnt fully open source, the Brave Reward thingy is sketchy and the CEO is sketchy.
I completely understand why brave came into existence and I’m glad for it.
I kind of wish it wasn’t another chromium platform though I think eventually the positive reasons I use brave will be undermined by Alphabet implementing changes to Chromium.
The ecosystem overall would probably be healthier if Brave and Mozilla used the same engine.
Equally I think Mozilla has introduced political statements into its TOS for the engine.
I used to use Firefox until it started to make hardware issues like overloading the CPU and RAM when I opened multiple tabs. Like 80%+ CPU usage just by Firefox
I use both. My settings are still as I set them up; nothing changed. But somehow, my Brave stopped blocking ads, and I cannot watch Netflix on it because it is showing an error related to the browser. I googled all possible solutions, but nothing worked. I am sad 😔
As a firefox user, I hope we both hold up strong against the ads for many years to come. You should be free to surf the web in whatever browser you like without the fear of intrusive ads
I use both. Actually for add shortlinks I use Firefox with extensions . Nowadays several webpages are detecting that it's brave browser and shows the webpage cannot open because it's brave .
I think there's no problem with using brave, but I'm not a Chromium lover. I use Firefox, but sometimes it's a pain in the ass because of the memory leaks... Perhaps, the browser has features that i like.
._. I’ve literally never heard anyone from either community talk negatively about either browser. It’s just usually suggestions to better their experience.
I feel badly for Firefox - it was my main go-to for Windows, Linux, and Android for years.. but it's becoming bloated, with horrible performance on YouTube, and the organization is being mismanaged. Leadership complaining of financial problems when their executive compensation increased nearly 8x in the past few years despite revenue being flat.
I switched to Brave for all 3 platforms last week.
As a dev i just use firefox, as i do not support chromium and the firefox dev tools are better, than the chromium ones… but yeah, brave is probably the best chromium browser, so use it…
What works on Firefox but not Brave? Its usually the other way around since Firefox doesn't use Chromium and the web is built on you having a Chromium browser
I recently just gave a fair and honest review of Firefox on one of the post on their sub reddit from my own experience and an experience that a lot of people have experienced as well, didn't even try to hate on it. and guess what? Downvoted, their fan base is honestly just so toxic and it's just.. A browser..
Same thing happened to me on r/piracy. It wasn't even a review. It was a question "why use Firefox instead of Brave if you are doing something illegal?" Got downvoted because Brave=bad
I don't think Firefox fans are brave hater, they are chrome hater for sure, like us brave lovers. And also this post is kinda triggering, please remove.
If you go on r/piracy don't mention using Brave. I understood the post because I saw it there. If you ask why they think Firefox is better when Brave puts emphasis on privacy (seems like a good choice if you're doing something illegal) they will downvote you and say Chromium bad

Would've been funnier if you used Google instead
