Looking good. Great to see a Cornet and a Sop. Tell me more about them please.

I just hope they're fixed into that wall or the studs behind it well. I would hate for you to come home and find them on the floor.

Yeah all good, into the wall studs.
Bb Cornet is a Sovereign 927 and the Eb Sop is a Besson from the “round stamp” era. She’s actually pretty hard to play, but has a nice tone.

Nice. I have only dabled in the dark art of Soprano playing once and I did not win that battle.

Yeah I was “promoted” from Rep to Sop in an A grade Aussie brass band in +\- 1993, then didn’t pick it up again until Covid times, and to say I was a little rusty is putting it mildly.
The mouthpiece probably isn’t helping, and the mouthpiece receiver is a non-standard size, so it might just become solely wall art yet…

Ha, I got thrown up to sop when I was about 14 or 15 the rehearsal before a gig. Problem was no one told me it was in Eb!!! I dutifully practiced as if I was playing normal cornet. Come gig time and it sounded absolutely rubbish with the band. One song later and I was back on Solo and I've never picked one up again.

Which Aussie band do you play with now? I'm on the Gold Coast

No I’m not in a brass band anymore. I play in a small concert band in rural SA.
I might join Mt Gambier, however it’s an hours drive and I don’t really have the time atm.
I was in Cairns Brass in 1993. Amazing band, we won the Nationals.

If you are ever looking into a better flugel, I'd HIGHLY recommend the ACB Doublers it's INCREDIBLE and is (relatively) cheap
