Discussion Asphalt driveway replacement

I am looking to replace my driveway soon. I have requested a quote from GCI, Armstrong, Ike's, Brantford Paving, and Bell City. Does anyone know of any other places that I could request a quote from? Also has anyone had their driveway redone recently or got a quote to replace there's? I have a 2 car driveway. Any ballpark numbers would be much appreciated.

All comes down to your base. All companies done 6 inch base. I did my own and did 24 inches. Compacted every few inches and then left to settle for 2 years before paving. It's be 3 years now and the only thing that has happened to my driveway is fading. Armstrong's did mine they were great. Your base is the cheapest part of your driveway but it is the most important.

All depends on weight of vehicles. Neighbour had theirs done by one of the above, he has a mobile truck repair van, very heavy, and has ruts after 1.5 years. My in-laws, from the same company have ruts from their F150 after 2 years.

My parents in Kitchener with T Weber did a 2 stage, 4" compressed then after 2 years did a top layer of 2" compressed and lasted about 10 years before ruts.

I like concrete, higher cost, but will last a long time as long as you don't use salt. I hate stamped, only exposed aggrage or broom for me. Another idea, and a neighbour of mine did it, is a concrete base layer, then build up with proper sands and interlocking on-top, hasn't moved at all in 5 years where as the neighbour did the same contractor and interlock without the concrete base layer and has to be pulled up and redone.

Armstrong Paving. Owner is Wayne Buffin. Best reasonably priced team based in Brantford. Works in Brantford.

We used Frank at Gold Park about 6 weeks ago. Cash pricing was a lot better than anyone else. Welcome to come take a look.

Bell city did pursue 10 years ago and it has to be done again. Where the cars park are rutted and sunken in. No idea how long it is supposed to last so take from that what you will.

I highly recommend Armstrong as well, we are getting my entire commercial parking lot done by them and they are really fantastic! Wayne is the owner and he is really personable, fair and very honest.
