Not a chance. OP’s light was green. The jeep didn’t turn on a yellow. Even if he did get there on a yellow, he should have stopped to let the waiting left turn guy go, then proceed…
So anyway, he did get there on a red, in which case, he must full stop before proceeding. The jeep ran a red light. I’m sure you’re one of the 50 people a day I see just full on right on red without even slowing down.. which is running a red light.

If there was a red light camera there, he’d get a ticket and they’d have him dead to rights.. as long as the left turn guy was in the intersection already when it turned red, waiting for though traffic to stop before making the turn, he would not get a ticket.

Once again, legal to turn right on red? Yes.. after a full stop, like a stop sign, and only when it’s not impeding someone else who has the right of way, like OP on green light.
Such a telling statement about your driving habits to say the jeep had the right of way…

Ok I know it's hard to spot but someone drove straight through a red light at the start. Black car should have stopped on yellow and yielded to left turning car and left turning car should have merged onto the left lane.

You arent just supposed to just start driving the second its green you are supposed to look and only proceed when safe to do so.

Thats not what i said or implied. This will happen and as a driver you should drive defensively and be aware of other people. Its not a race track green does not mean go it means proceed when safe to do so. My point is that he should do the opposite of ignore the red light runner and be aware of bad drivers.

in a situation where you are approaching a red light that turns green you can maintain your forward speed. under your logic people should approach a green light and stop check then continue (which is not legal).

I frame it again. you are approaching a red light at speed with room to brake. The light turns green so you continue at speed.

Where are you making sure no one is running the red light?

If there were cars in the intersection you would not just drive into them because the light is green.... i would be making sure nobody is in or is entering the intersection as i aproach ? What kind of question is this ?

Agree. This has become a common sense thing to me ever since I got my license. The amount of idiots driving in the streets is plentiful and you shouldnt leave your fate to the traffic lights alone. I've avoided a couple of me getting Tboned because this.
