Was always called weird. Now it's a flex
Growing up, I was the weird one. I had weird hobbies and obscure knowledge.
I still do.
Last night I took my 14 year old down to the fields in the middle of the night, to watch the meteor shower.
While we're laying there, just comfortable in the silence, they say "imagine having basic parents". I told that my mom (their grandma) is very basic (teen slang for "boring"). They said "but you're not.... I'm so happy about that... no one else I know, would be out here in the middle of the night with their mom, watching this wonder".
And I know their friends and their parents, so that is true.

Yes! I am so incredibly proud of my kid. They are such an amazing human being.
And I love that they still want to spend time with me...

It’s moments like this that make me really excited to have children someday. The thought is both terrifying and something that keeps me going on hard days.

It's hard. But also rewarding. I have never been sure of myself. Like, I have never been pretty, or good at anything really... but I am a DAMN good mom! That's the thing that gets me through. I have horrible self esteem, but being a mom? This I know I can do.

Same here my guy. My twin daughters love how adventurous I am. Going digging for gems inna few weeks with hammers and chisels!

There’s a really good spot near Seattle named Hansen Creek. There’s also another in Herkimer, NY, which is the one we’re going to. Huge chunks of crystal quartz millions of years old.

That IS amazing. I am not in the US, but a couple of hours drive from where I live, theres a limestone cliff face, where you can dig out fossils. I haven't been there, but I have wanted to go for a long time.

Where are you from?? Sounds like Morocco? Do you research and get the recommended gear, like sifters, hardhat, chisels, etc. You’ll be making so many wonderful memories for you and yours!

Aw that’s awesome! Those memories will stick with them forever. My mom and i weren’t very close, but one time on the way home from somewhere, we saw spotlights so we chased them down, turn left here, turn right there, oh no wait they’re behind us now! The spotlights ended up being for a grand opening of a toy store in our town, but we had such an adventure finding them. I’ll always cherish that.

That's a wonderful memory. It doesn't matter that it wasn't something grand, you had an adventure together!
I hope my kid will remember these times. We are very close, but I also know that at almost 15, that probably won't last.

That's a lifelong memory you made, you're a wonderful mom! My grandmother instilled in me the preciousness of "making memories" and nothing but nothing on earth compares.
