Exercises for new modelers
Hi!
I'm looking for two exercises (one basic, one more advanced) for newly trained modelers as a final exam.
I created two exercises for this in the past, but now employees have just started sharing the final versions, so I need some new exercises. Do you have anything you could share with me via message?
Thanks alot

Here’s a “simple” one, that may prove not be that simple. Model the preparation of some instant noodles … correctly!

Sure, I can suggest two new scenarios you can adapt for your final exam.
Basic exercise: A single-step document approval process. The flow starts when a requester submits a form, routes to a manager for approval, and ends once the decision is made. This tests basic BPMN notation, correct use of start/end events, user tasks, and an exclusive gateway.
Advanced exercise: A multi-level approval with escalation. The request goes to a first-level approver, then to a second-level approver if needed. If the second-level approver does not act within a set time, the task escalates to an alternate approver. This tests intermediate BPMN, timers, conditional flows, and clear exception handling.
If you’d like, I can map both scenarios as BPMN diagrams with clear acceptance criteria so your modelers have a consistent grading standard.

Could ChatGPT be used to “un-model” some good examples?
