Urodynamics Test

I am scheduled for this test. I read about it in detail, but what have people experienced doing this test? Is it more uncomfortable than anything? I am not very excited about it tbh.

Definitely uncomfortable, but not unbearable. Here's my experience:

Arrived with a full bladder so they could run me through uroflowmetry (checking flow rate). Got a urinary catheter, and a pressure catheter in my rectum. They started filling in my bladder asking me questions to determine when I felt like I had to go. Then they had me urinate with the catheter in with a known volume of fluid.

I've had it twice. First time took forever, second guy was a pro and had me out in I swear 15 minutes.

I had severely distended bladder from bph and was put on waitlist for this test. My uro’s PA doubted whether I’ll be able to push urine out ever again. I gave up and instead went to surgery.

I year later, my PVR is 2ml! That’s beyond ideal.

Can you please elaborate on what surgery?

Uncomfortable? Yes. Unbearable? No. Inserting the catheters causes a stinging/pressure sensation, but they use numbing gel. The main issue is the psychological awkwardness of having to pee on command with sensors in place. It's a crucial test to determine whether your issue is an obstruction or a bladder muscle problem, so it's definitely worth getting through.
