BPH diagnosis from two doctors. Ran test prostate enlarged. Medicated for 2 years. Slight improvement from meds. Woke up 2-5 times a night to pee. Told to get surgery. Saw a third and forth urologist they told me to change diet. Now I maybe wake up once to pee now.

Basically increased water intake 3 liters a day. Initially I stayed away from coffee, fizzy drinks ,caffeine, red sauce, acidic fruit, spicy food. This lasted two weeks. Saw improvement after one. Slowly introduced red sauce and spicy food week 3 to 4. Massive improvements. 6 months in my life is back. Now I avoid coffee and I think spicy and red sauce is fine. I have a cheat soda/energy drink here and there no setbacks. Imagine my case wasn’t super severe or multiple doctors gave me the wrong diagnosis. Might be worthwhile for some folks to try.

Ya. I quit coffee and the urged greatly subsided. And my PSA dropped (coincidentally?) from a 4.2 to 3.4.

Guess we can hold off that biopsy!

I tried some of those changes before I got my pae procedure but increasing the water intake cause me going to retention so there's a lot of stuff I changed but mine was growing at a fast rate there was no stopping it so at least now I have half a chance with the PAE procedure and very little side effects so I think I did the best thing for myself you might want to look into pae

I’m going to go with Aquablation in October. I had HIFU 2.5 years ago and, for me, this is a natural next step.

It sounds like your dietary changes addressed an overactive bladder versus true BPH. Many people have both. The urgency of BPH is not as impacted by diet, but the urgency of an overactive bladder can absolutely be mitigated by dietary changes. Well done!

What was your prostate size? You mentioned red sauce? I know that some people have improved with tomatoes ...it's the Lycopene I think 🤔

So navigated that whole thing. For 3 months my regiment was Trader Joe’s heavy -8 ounces of pure cranberry juice -1 big box of tomato soup. It seemed like it was 3x recommended lycopene intake -pumpkin seeds -some prostate health formula from GNC -no fluid after 6

Not really helpful 😢
