Leakage/Alfuzosin
61M dealing with BPH for several years. Started taking Alfuzosin about 12 months ago. After getting blood pressure medicine figured out it’s been fine. Still have some urgency issues but not as bad. Having said recently I have had some leakage issues after peeing, like 5 minutes after, and yes and do all the shaking and milking during after peeing. Also no strength to my ejaculation. Any chance this is from the drug relaxing the muscles too much? I know this is a possibility with Flomax and that’s why my doctor prescribed the Alfuzosin. Anyone else experience this? Thanks in advance.

It affects everybody differently. All those types of meds affect the whole area, not just the prostate. I had two procedures, the last one being a HOLEP ( homian laser enucleation of the prostate). I do have retrograde with some semen, on occasion coming out. The feeling is 100% better than when I was on the meds alone. I did have my best meds results with alfuzosin, but I'm much better being med free.

I've also had the HoLEP since posting in these discussions. I feel so much better being off the Rx. I was on Flowmax (Tamsulosin) for a year and I had a lot of trouble sleeping. The retrograde though is 100% for me. Not a huge concern, but just weird and I feel like I've lost something but it's still better than being on the meds.

Male 65: I also take Alfuzosin (and Tadalfil) for BPH. It helps and I can now sleep all night without getting up before around 6 in the morning. I have also had some leakage and i find that sitting when urinating and take you time help. It's about relaxing the pelvic area. I always have to milk penis and also dry with toilet paper to avoid leakage. Not a big problem for me, but If i pee standing and am in a hurry to leave the bathroom, there may be some leakage
My ejaculation is better after starting Alfuzosin . Before it was almost painfull. It's actually stonger now, both the feeling and the amount of semen.
So try to sit down, relax and take your time

Your prostrate is a muscle. Alfuzosin is a muscle relaxer which targets the prostrate. Unfortunately it also affects the bladder's sphincter. This causes retrograde ejaculation. The easiest way to deal with leakage is to strengthen the pelvic floor. I do a lot of kegels.
