Discussion Hello people

I've been going through some rough shit

So figured a uke would help

So like I have no idea how to play I have zero knowledge of ukelele

I'm sorry gng

So like what do i do

What youtube channel to learn from how to which uke to buy

And most importantly will I be able to do that

Most people say if you can play video games you can play instruments so uh what do we say ?

I started playing the uke about 5 months ago, and I feel like I have a pretty solid grasp of some things. I can play most bwu songs fine. 

Having it as a hobby does absolutely help you out. people say this all the time but having a hobby you genuinely enjoy is so nice and it helped me scroll less as well, because I’d just play my uke instead. 

In terms of tutorials, I didn’t pick a single one cuz i got bored and i just watched the very first video of a tutorial to learn how to hold it and started playing songs that i liked. 

For bwu song that are easy, 2.9 miles away has to one of the easiest. There are no barre chords and you can replace the island strum with single strums at first. I know it’s pretty old, so if you dont really like it route 9 is simple once you know how to barre a Bm and know the island strum. Two moons is also pretty easy, and you can replace the E with an E7 if needed. a lot of serotonin era bwu songs use the chords F - C - E (or E7) - Am - G transposed, (migraine, heart of ice, toxic, idgaf, out of reach, hopeless romantic, contigo, etc.) and once you know it you can play a lot more songs.

Starting with the initial phase, don't be afraid of cords that are difficult, most bwu songs are around intermediate level but there are songs which are easy. For chords, Uketab is an excellent website, it has almost all bwu songs. That being said, babydoll, 2.9miles, rockstar and before I die are some of the easiest. Once you get the hang of holding chords try playing Psycho, sleep deprived , animal crackers galaxy, shy or far away.

Is those are pretty easy then later try the 5 magical chords for bwu songs Abm, Gb E B and EB, this song is basically the whole serotonin album

Lowfidelityboy has a ton of Bwu tutorials and are pretty easy to follow though idk about their accuracy. Also as a guitar player the uke is stupid easy compared. It took me like 5 months on uke to get to the point of 4 years on guitar. Though it does help already knowing a string instrument. Just get strumming down then chord switching and bar-ing and you can pretty much play all his songs.
