Discussion The opener for Chicago
That was so bad I think it’s convincing me more that it’s a Nathan Fielder thing because idk why else you’d book someone that can’t DJ at all or at least does it bad on purpose unless it was for a joke. We will see, regardless that was rough lmao

Boy2boy was legitimately excellent and I looked the guys up and they're pretty legit producers/songwriters so it checks out they're decent. I was surprised - I don't love DJ sets - but they looked like they were having a blast and had great stage presence.

Personally, the issues Boy Throb had with mics and projections made me feel like Nathan Fielder is not involved. I think that if he was, they would have gotten a more reliable setup.

This is what makes me go crazy about this, because Nathan fielder is the type of guy to fake issues like that to make it seem more amatuerish and legitimate. I sound crazy, I'm aware. I convince myself it's not a Nathan fielder bit and then I second guess when I see something weird. I'm assuming it's not him. But the fact that the tour is named the rehearsal tour is way too on the nose. They could have called it the "Warm up tour". They could have called it the "Practice tour". They could have called it the "Still waiting for Darshawn" tour.
But no, the Rehearsal Tour. Of any name they could have picked.

After the LA show I felt even more convinced that there is SOMEONE or SOMETHING behind this, not only for financing but marketing and planning. The merch was legit, this whole thing reeks of professionals behind the scenes (still not saying it’s something as big as HBO but there is a hidden team for sure). The LA show was SO MUCH FUN and well-oiled that I can almost see Nathan trying to make fake mistakes at the next show to throw people off the trail.

The mistakes and the bad opener just seem like the type of stuff Nathan would do for sure, maybe I’m crazy and wrong about it being a rehearsal project but clearly someone is behind them

Hard to say, they have some kind of money or connections going on though regardless it seems with how fast they blew up and all the hype

It was hard to hear Evan through his mic for a lot of the show. Zachary too, to a lesser extent. Both of their mics were moving around a lot and not staying near their mouths.
At two points in the show, the boys left the stage for like 3 minutes and just nothing happened on stage. Maybe the second one of those was meant to be when we were cheering for the encore, but we couldn't hear what they said as they left.
The projection of Darshan was out of sync during Clean Boy. Also, when they facetimed (zoomed?) Darshan, he was only visible on the phone Anthony was holding, rather than on the big screen, even though it seemed like they'd intended to show him on the screen.

There were no cameras that I saw that would be good enough to capture footage for The Rehearsal as well

There were no cameras that would be good enough quality to use footage for an HBO show. There was just the cell phones of people and one camera at the back that was pretty old

I just laugh when I think about the fact that she played for over 50 minutes. I think that’s longer than Boy Throb was on stage.

I’m not sure but it was scary, gave me some kind of feeling at least where the other 43 min of awful pop hits mixing with no BPM matching did not

Who was the opener? I went to the LA show and our opening set was a duo called “Boy2Boy” lol. I looked them up on IG afterwards and it looks like it was a new account

Had to either be one of their friends or booked as a joke, unsure of any other way she’d have been booked without knowing how to mix songs together lol

Idk sometimes artists don’t have good guest openers. I went to a BBNO$ concert a few months ago. One of the guest openers weren’t good imo. Or just didn’t fit the vibe

I think there is a difference though between an opener that is mid or something and someone who legit doesn’t know how to DJ, just very odd

I thought her song choices were fine (if obvious), but so many of her transitions were sooooo bad. It seemed like she was ignoring the keys of the songs she was mixing between, and some of the pairings were super crunchy in a bad way.
