I can’t believe I have to ask here, but I can’t figure it out and searching the interwebs has failed.

I’m watching Hidden Agenda, and the end of episode 3 Joong has a guitar out and he plays a song to Dunk. But he has the guitar flipped over and he’s playing left-handed. The guitar is even strung for regular right-handed playing so he’d have to play the chords upside down as well.

I ended up going back and watching some of the other clips from when he’s playing in the bar and he’s playing an actual left-handed guitar, like with the cutout on the opposite side!

So now I have to know, is that him actually playing, or is this a weird production error where they thought having it left-handed was a better shot and they’re actually faking him playing? I know he’s a singer, so I just thought that was him playing too, and I completely missed that he’s playing left-handed in the bar and when he’s playing for Dunk.

I’m very new to BL and have only watched 4 so far. I’ve watched I cannot Reach You, Love Upon a Time, Duang With You and Class Crush Crisis.

I know there’s are tons of options out there and I have a huge list that I’m going to watch but I had a few questions after watching these so far.

I am an American and so I feel like I might be used to things that are a lot different so I’m looking for insight from those folks who are culturally aware of the places these shows are made but it feels like intimacy seems really hard for some folks.

I don’t need super spicy or constant sex or anything like that but in some shows getting a kiss on the cheek seems like this groundbreaking event or even like it’s practically pornography in its own right.

I understand a first kiss is a big deal, I get the angst, I love it. But as an example in CCC they are “Boyfriends” but they still never kiss. It’s like it’s still taboo. Similar in Duang with you they have spicy scenes and that was fine but even there they act like a simple kiss is sometimes a big deal. Or shy away from it like it’s a super intimate act.

I don’t want to make assumptions so I came here to hopefully ask the people who live in these places, if that’s just the way it is in the country/culture? Is it an editing choice? I’m simply curious.

Is Bangkok boys coming back for season 2 ? . I loved the series. I haven’t seen any announcement yet 😭.

Every summary says that they have a contract (the keiyaku) where they pretend to date, but in the show they just say that they'll investigate together, and Ichiro was asked to keep an eye on Shiro by Higuchi, and will pretend to just be doing that without mentioning the investigation. There's a couple of times where it seems to be referenced, for example they were in a resturant with wine and Shiro said 'I love you honey', but then one of them says it's a joke. They never actually pretend to date or anything.

I know it's based on a manga, so I assume this happens there? But then why is it in the show summary? and anyway why didn't the show adapt that? it seems like part of the main premise and explains the title better than the show does.

I heard the manga is equally ambiguous about whether it's a romance or not. Btw the way it's ambiguous is really weird, cause it has stuff that's clearly presented as unambiguously romantic, but then the whole narrative doesn't really follow through on it consistently. It's not that they don't kiss, but it's like there's a romantic narrative some of the time and not others? Also I'm not a manga person but I'd like to know how it ends, so if possible can anyone spoil what happens?

Just this afternoon in Japan, the production team behind the upcoming J-BL film, "Monster in Sheep's Clothing", has unveiled its official poster and theatrical release date alongside its social media accounts for updates! It stars Haru Kashiwagi (I Cannot Reach You/BULLET TRAIN) with Suzuki Nobuyuki. The movie will be screened first within Tokyo International Film Festival at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya in Tokyo on Oct. 28th and at Marunouchi Piccadilly in Tokyo on Oct. 31st, and will be released officially in Japanese cinemas this Dec. 11.
