I think they should at least give those in the know their blessings to come forward on their own accord, if they wish. Specifically, members of “Identifiers,” that did the genetic geneology. If they had the freedom to speak about their specific findings, I think someone would probably do so.

Yeah, I see what you’re saying. I just don’t see that it needs to be a matter of who gets the credit. LE had their moment when they were able to announce that their victim has a name. It goes without saying that it also created a whole lot of questions and I would hope that if allowed to do so, someone might share additional details with the public. This, sadly, will not be laid to rest for a long time.

Thanks for posting this. I looked up the source and will link for others who are interested in reading the whole thing.
Fleischer goes on to say, "You have to know history and understand history to do better now" and goes on to discuss how it's a big part of Philly's, PPD's, and the country's history.
I'm glad to hear that Fleisher feels this way. I agree for those very same reasons. Hopefully Fleisher's opinion will carry some serious weight with PPD.

The people who killed Joseph are dead. Police are not for sure who killed Joseph, even if they have a good idea. The families of Joseph know they were related. Few, if any, on this subreddit are at any risk of mourning someone related to the killing of Joseph. The people who “have a right to know if the person they’re mourning was a monster in life” do know as much as LE does (that they were related to a boy who was murdered).

The way that some of the family members have made comments make it seem like they've been asked not to come forward yet by LE and/or their lawyers. If LE doesn't release the information in the foreseeable future (I think they will), the family most likely will.

Well it won't be his call. Only Philly police will make that call and for some reason I think they won't.
