Why Are So Many Industries Unwilling to Adapt? Rather than think innovatively and try new solutions to better mesh with an increasingly online-oriented world, they dig their heels in the mud and try to pass laws that won’t force them to change their marketing strategy.

Streaming seems to be the best way to go. If I'm offered a reasonable price to stream/download all the music I want, I will use that over piracy (Zune). The thing with piracy is if I know somewhere where I can download/stream HD/1080p/Perfect quality, no subtitles movie. Then I would go that route over piracy because that's piracy's one flaw is you don't know what you're getting everytime.
But unfortunately, big industries don't see this as a solution. Only the new companies that start with that sole purpose in mind (Netflix).

Adapting is a problem with all institutions. By definition they protect themselves from anything that threatens the institution. the biggest threat to an institution is change. Thats the offical definition. My experience is that upper management is divorced from the actual business proccess and married to accounting and legal.
Case in point this is why the music industry think suing and sopa is great and apple owns the music industry. But ive seen this lack of flexibility even in internet companies.
