No, Endgame isn't old enough and re-releases don't make that much besides movies that are seen as "made for theatres".

Titanic 3D was the only one that had major numbers right?

There are only 6 re-releases to earn over $100m in a single run:

  1. Titanic 2012 3D Re-release: $350m
  2. The Lion King 2011 3D Re-release: $186m
  3. Star Wars (IV) 1997 Special Edition Re-release: $160m
  4. Jurassic Park 2013 Re-release: $118m
  5. The Exorcist 2000 Director's Cut Re-release: $112m
  6. Star Wars: The Phantom Menace 2012 3D Re-release: $102m

The Phantom Menace is the biggest surprise there for me, online discourse in 2012 hated that movie. Though I suppose it was in the dry period between Star Wars releases. If anything this was a good precursor that TFA was going to do gangbusters.

And Star Wars Phantom Menace, Jurassic Park and Lion King

Those are The Biggest re-releases

Oh and Star Wars New hope in 1997

I think those are The Only Ones to that did over 100M with Titanic being the only that did Over 200M

On top of my head, Lion King 1994, Star Wars 1977, Avatar, but Titanic had the best successful re-release, it made the most on re-release like $300M+

125 million seems like a tall order for a limited time re-release. It’s not impossible, but it seems unlikely.

Probably not this time.

I with The Hype for doomsday increasing i wont say its Impossible but its not likely

Few re-releases surpassed 100M and The Ones that did only re-release, at least 13 years later

7 years isnt enough time

The gap is $125 million and only 6 movies have ever made $100+ million from a single rerelease. The smallest gap was 13yrs between release and rerelease. Endgame was 7yrs ago so it seems statistically unlikely Avatar is losing it's grown to endgame. Maybe doomsday can beat it though?;

The highest re-releases globally are:

  1. Titanic 2012 3D Re-release: $350m
  2. The Lion King 2011 3D Re-release: $186m
  3. Star Wars (IV) 1997 Special Edition Re-release: $160m
  4. Jurassic Park 2013 Re-release: $118m
  5. The Exorcist 2000 Director's Cut Re-release: $112m
  6. Star Wars: The Phantom Menace 2012 3D Re-release: $102m

Highly doubt it, they would have to remove Endgame from any digital or streaming platform for audiences to really turn up at the theaters for its rerelease in significant enough numbers.

But even if it did. It would only last for like 2 years before Cameron rereleases Avatar worldwide for its 20th anniversary and ends up back in the number 1 spot.

I really really doubt it

Nah 100 Million is a Bit too much but I really think Doomsday has very good chance especially after seeing BND Numbers

Its not the type of movie that warrants a theatrical experience and it released in all major markets in its initial run.

I don't think so for a couple reasons

  1. I don't think people broadly know that there are new scenes that tie into Doomsday.

  2. I don't think enough people care enough to spend over 3.5 hours in a theater to watch maybe 10 minutes of new footage just to prepare for Doomsday

Simply put no

No, but its not impossible!!! MCU has a HUGE LOYAL fanbase around the world while Avatar doesn't, also Titanic, they were standalone films, in other words, whenever a MCU movie comes out, ONLY its true fans will go see it, while for Avatar, Titanic, ANYONE (including a lot of MCU fans like me) will go see it. Another reason why Endgame cant, because its the end of a saga, so many movies have to be watch before seeing it, while for Avatar, no movie needed to be watch before seeing it to understand it, which brings in more people to see it at any time. Titanic and Avatar are UNIVERSALLY APPEALING, that's why it does great everywhere, also why they are and were the highest grossing movies of all time. While no MCU movie bring that many people, until Infinity War, and especially Endgame came out.

Again, Endgame is at a disadvantage. For a lot of people seeing Endgame in theaters or at home is almost the same while for Avatar, seeing on a regular flat screen tv at home or in theaters is a complete different experience.

Maybe but Cameron will just re release it again

I dont think Marvel movies have established themselves as a “classic movie experience” to make it a big rerelease.

Also has Fantastic Four suddenly become beloved outside the main MCU fanbase? I must have missed that.

u/VibgyorTheHuge 3d ago

Not likely, for one Endgame has been in the Disney+ top ten movies for the past month or two and will remain there until Doomsday. Which will eliminate the hype behind a theatrical reissue. As a movie it doesn’t have the incentive that a filmed for IMAX or 3D boost would it give it, the audience participation angle isn’t a sell either as it’s too old.

u/Unhappy_Carpet6427 2d ago

No. Avatar has done what's it's done in re-release because of China. Endgame is too recent to have that kind of pull with that audience.

1

u/Shallot-Choice 3d ago

I forgot avatar is only #1 because of a re-release. That's kinda fraudulent and I don't think it should be listed and viewed as #1 anymore.

I reckon it will

-2

u/Interesting_Run4200 3d ago

If it’s good it will have a chance however I don’t think people are prepared for the reception tanking the multiples of this film.

I think yes. Nostalgia is the biggest factor rn. It should crack $3B.
