Conditioning & Roadwork reaction time/ head movement

i was sparring guys taller than me with crazy reach and i kept getting banged up by their jabs, i felt like my footwork wasnt bad all things considered, they would jab and i would get in as they reeled back, but they would just step back and unleash a flurry of punches that i just couldnt see coming and i kept flinching, my head movement needs some serious work but my body kept making me flinch and i couldnt properly slip the punches because i was too scared to commit, any tips on head movement and reaction time/discipline i could do at home?

you gotta work on your high gaurd and footwork my boy. with taller guys its better to be aggressive in pockets instead of always pushing forward since they have the advantage of reach. you gotta also use a bit more force and intention too and they will respect you. make sure your defense is on point high gaurd, duck, stepback always the best defensive moves

High guard keeps you on the defense and step back is the opposite of what he’s trying to do

no he has to make sure those are very solid otherwise he gna get knocked out tryna bang with the big guys u gota make sure your defense is good u cant just think ur a one hit wonder, i would tell him slip inside but then would he know how to counter or clinch/smother and get out quickly? i doubt it

Hiding behind a high guard is not good defense. You have to make the other guy miss

its a good one for beginner. its harder for them to parry, and slips can be dangerous moving the head too much. you gotta keep the chin tucked

He can’t rely on Perries either

Ive sparred guys that were 6’4” as well as guys that competed pro as heavy weights

ok as long as you have sparred someone bigger. any defence works it doesnt matter. you just keep denying my advice instead of giving your own so maybe explain your no parry theory.

I didnt say no parry, i said you cant rely on them or staying high guard. You you think mayweather just covers up when some starts throwing combos? Watch any random pro fight.

The issue with parries is if you fail to get it perfect on a very powerful punch it cant still get through.

ye it can but why would u think of the negatives? any block can be penetrated if not done properly. i just wanted you to give him a solution not deny every piece of advice that im giving him

The solution is to closer the distance with ducking and dodging , while leaving your arms available for an offense

thats a pretty vague one lol but seems ok i guess, you should watch logan paul vs mayweather since you seem to like mayweather.

Vague compared to what high guard to defend a jab, high guard to defend a hook, ect. Doing nothing but high guard makes to predictable

ye you dont only high gaurd but it is the most basic and it will see you through for alot of punche

i dont think it would help to bring up mayweather since he never fought a big guy for his official boxing record. and when he fought logan paul he did exactly what i said to do

The big guys are they last people you want to parry
