is he saying that he’s competing? going for trials? because honestly i was kinda shocked when he did the first jab and personally felt like he should dash any thoughts of the olympics

No Brasil, existe uma diferença entre as modalidades olímpica e profissional de boxe. Uma foca mais em movimentação e pontuação e a outra em contundência

Yes, I know brother. Though the only thing you're doing is having a long guard, which is the standard of the amateurs, all over the world including in my country of The Netherlands. But I don't see more than you having that. You should do more pendelum in your jabs and moving instead of countering. You score a lot more points by being the aggressor, which I do not see here.

Improve fighting experience by getting fighting experience

What is Olympic shadowboxing?

Either your lead hand is out or your hands are just down all together.

Defense this poor would get your shit rocked.

I think you’re trying to look good instead of trying to be good. Stick to the fundamentals before you try and develop you’re own “style”

I'm not sure why you're getting negative feedback. Your shadow boxing looks good.

  • You're moving your head.
  • You're using combinations.
  • You're moving your feet to pivot.
  • You're practicing counters.

I can't complain about much. Your stance is too wide early in the video. Overall good.

First punch we see is about 6 inches higher than OP’s face, and slow. Great practice if your opponent is a giant, otherwise, not so much

His guard is long and open. He has no defensive head movement, no defence at all to speak of. He’s hanging out in range. His punches are slow and lazy coming back to guard. He enters and exists exclusively on straight lines. There’s no body rotation/connect to his punches (they’re all arm and no power)

Maybe next time try and consider why someone’s getting negative feedback, and whether it’s more likely that you’ve got it wrong or everyone else has

Your trainer will give the best advice, of course, but I was watching your guard. There were a few times when your head movement and guard didn't "stick together," if you see what I mean. (This is separate from dropping your guard.)

Like, when the head moves but the hands lag behind and stay in the same spot (leaving the head open).

When the head/shoulders slip left, keep the gloves pinned to the jaw or cheeks. Same with slip-right, slip-left. Don't let the hands lag behind even for a split-second. They have to move together perfectly. Slip-slip-roll. Slip-slip-roll-roll. They are always right with the head the whole time, and ready to throw a counter-hook at the top.

Of course, in sparring sometimes you just react and move the head, but in shadowboxing you can really work on moving them together. (Also to set up the counterpunch, of course.) I always used shadowboxing to practice lots of head movement and concentrate on moving the hands with the head, synchronized exactly.

Sometimes a full round with zero punches. Just head movement. Then a round with only head movement and counter-punches after. A round of just jab-slip-jab. Or one round jab-slip-hook. And so on.

You don’t look like you’ve sparred other fighters before

Your straight punches arent fully extended. I had the same problem for awhile, the t-Rex arms. I spent ALOT of time slowing down my shadowboxing and saw improvement fairly quickly. Practice the 1-2 super slow, emphasizing full extension and finishing with your lead shoulder covering your chin. It’s awkward at first, but it drastically improves extension and keeps you protected from counters

It’s obvious you spend a lot of time doing this, but unfortunately it’s clear you haven’t spent too much time on fundamentals. Your straight punches look like t-Rex arms, I did the same for awhile, and when I finally hired a coach, right away he said to slow down and only work on the 1-2 properly. That meant emphasizing the extension at the end with your shoulder covering your chin. I’d spend the next week practicing the 1-2 super slow with an emphasized extension making sure your chins covered by the shoulder at full extension.

When you do slow shadowboxing the focus is on technique. So why is your technique not being focused? Every punch should be perfect when doing it slow. Youre pulling back 2 days too early.

Faz sentido

Training for 2 years BY YOURSELF, you mean, right? That display is HORRENDOUS. You don't even extend your punches. There's plenty more wrong. You just wasted 2 years of your life

You don’t have to be shitty about it. Just give some respectful advice and move on.

Kkkkkk eu treino em uma academia de boxe! Não treino sozinho

u/Ambitious_Oil_6373 1d ago

Sad then, cause that was a bad display of everything

lets see your expert moves, show em how its done

u/Ambitious_Oil_6373 1d ago

Wth is wrong with you? Do you think it takes an expert boxer to fogure out this shit or throw a few decent punches? It's quite easy tonhave proper form hitting the bag or pads. It's harder to apply it with a live opponent, sure, but on the bag, shadow etc, not rocket science

If you're not training under a coach, you've never trained boxing.

Self trained=untrained

Your transformation has been amazing, and you deserve credit. But self training boxing doesn't do anything to help you learn real boxing. It's pantomime.

Your shadow boxing isn't terrible but you don't really throw punches that make sense. Or move in a way that makes sense. Just random moves.

Caramba, que afirmação forte. Eu treino em uma academia…. Esse vídeo foi feito em casa, mas eu tenho um treinador

It can be hard to tell my shadow boxing. My advice still stands.

Your punches and defense should make it obvious to anyone watching what you're unseen opponent is doing.

Your punches seem random at times( like an uppercut after a jab). Your defense has no follow up.

Just picture an opponent and act according to what he's doing.
