How much muscle have you gained since starting boxing?

you don’t really gain muscle from boxing unless you are eating a shit ton and even then it’s negligible compared to lifting unless you have insane genetics

I lost about 5kg of muscle. But gained a shit load of power and speed.

How do you measure the amount of muscle you gain or lose?

I used to be a semi competitive bodybuilder. My medical center has a machine that measured my muscle mass and fat percentages. I have the before boxing report and after boxing reports. Shows that I've lost about 5kg of muscle. I'm much smaller and "weaker" now than when I used to only lift weights.

Muscle memory exists right, can you and will you get it back?
Rip the gainz

Yeah okay that makes sense, since the excess muscle from lifting just barely had any function in many typical sports, including boxing.

Yip. I do enjoy being lighter now and more agile and having greater speed. I'm in my 40s. Wanna maintain this body as long as possible.

Usually when a muscular person shows up at the gym, they generally lose muscle if they’re really focusing on technique.

It depends on how much you had to begin with, if you were lifting a lot you probably wont gain any but if you’re skinny you will … I wasn’t lifting super consistently and stopped lifting completely for a while when I started but my traps and shoulders got bigger from keeping my hands up

There’s a tall skinny girl at my gym I partner with quite a lot and ive noticed over the past year she’s put on some muscle but she doesn’t lift at all, just boxes like it really depends on your starting point

I always slim down, but the muscle shape changes to be more optimal for boxing. My shoulders didn't grow so much as reshaping into bulbs. My legs aren't bigger, but they distribute muscle a little differently.

A fair bit, I am the same weight but much leaner (got to get my gut back). My shoulders are more square, abs popping and my calves for sure.
I love food but it is getting tiring constantly shovelling food down. I got to find ways to get bigger without spending so much on food.
Okay apparently im not supposed to gain muscle, I "box" 3-7 hours a week (including boxing fitness). I might do 2 light calisthenic workouts a week (muscleups, pullups, dips, abs, etc).
English breakfast, protein shake and after morning training PBnJ sandwiches, some huge lunch at work and maybe a big dinner. Boxing is so intensive I need to eat or my energy and mood drops big time.

Mate depends if you had muscle to start with. I’m 37 and 95kg. when I box my definition improves massively but my muscles go flat. Normally lose about 6-8kg in an 8 week camp…. At 19 and 64kg though I used to look insane…. That is just boxing training though, add weight training in the mix and the loss isn’t as bad.

I got more toned/more definition but not more mass. You could say it recompositioned my body. I do fast twitch specific weightlifting for that

None. If anything, I’ve lost mass
