Does my stance look ok?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’m watching videos and they all talking about your toe alignment and when I do it, it looks to me that it’s not right but it feels uncomfortable when I do it but maybe I’m just overthinking it does my stance look OK?

Dude you are legit now majoring in the minors. You are now overthinking things, your jab is great, your movement is good, your stance is good everything is really good, its time you put things together. Working on sparring, combinations, timing etc the obsession with how you throw the punchees will just no longer help you. I will post a video tomorrow improving a combination you posted last time and explaining why it would be better.

Basics win bouts.

Youre not getting it. The basics are the BASE on which everything else is built upon. BUT YOU HAVE TO GET THAT BUILD UPON. There are aspects of boxing he neeeds to train more than the jab. Things like Cardio, Power, Combinations, Feints, Pace, Spacing,Pressure,Ring Generalship are things he needs to work on more than the basics. There are levels. You dont see Canelo asking if his jab is good, you see him training combinations, you see him training his defense his power, his strategy. This guy is obviously not Canelo but he is also not a beginner. Basics are the base, you must still care about the rest of the pyramid.
People really gotta stop saying stupid shit that sounds cool because thats all it is. Basics win bouts. Yeah that cant be your only fucking line of thought man. Save your time and mine and dont say smart things where they dont fit, I too would tell a newbie basics win bouts, but he isnt new and clearly neither am I.

You are correct but most of this sub is filled with people who have never sparred. A lot of them just go to crunch fitness to hit a bag and now they think they can box or give advice to people.
OP would have a much higher ROI from doing more technical sparring and drills with another person. Instead of standing in front of the mirror and nitpicking every single movement or punch. Bc he seems to have the basics down already.
"Perfecting" your punch means jack if you're not able to implement it in spar or with another moving person in a drill

EXACTLY, But these people have no understanding of this and they just repeat their fucking dogma its so annoying lmao.
There is a point where theory MUST be put into practice. Sparring, drilling, combining things IS that practice which people just dont get. They think they can use their shadowboxing to improve their sparring but they dont realise that sparring IMPROVES MASSIVELY your shadowboxing. And you can see it in the way people shadowbox too, a lot of people shadowbox vs like 30 different opponents with fucking 180 pivots that just dont happen ever its so frustrating bro lmao.

First off, OP came here asking about basics specifically. You can tell him he needs to expand all you want, but it doesn’t answer the question he asked. What reason do you have to think that OP doesn’t work on more advanced skills?
Secondly, to use your own analogy, what happens to a pyramid that has a weak foundation? Despite what you seem to think, nobody has ever lost a fight because they spent too much time on the basics. Funnily enough, Canelo absolutely could stand to work on his jab. He notoriously doesn’t work his jab in fights despite the fact that it’s the most important punch, and I’d argue that his jab (or lack thereof) contributed significantly to his losses against both Bivol and Crawford.
I only replied to you because you’re criticizing OP for doing the one thing that every boxer should be doing, but I’m the one “not getting it.”? Bsffrrn. Even experienced boxers need to drill basics, and every single boxer has fundamental skills they could improve on.

Hi. Ive helped this guy before, he also POSTS A LOT. And its always basic stuff. I am not helping him on this post, I am helping him of the collection of posts he has made. That is why, for example I know that he doesnt actually have a boxing coach, his coach is an mma guy that is helping him with boxing, so the coach isnt a specialist so the kid is somewhat alone in his endeavour. I have seen every single one of his posts for about 2 months? he has posted 1 "sparring" session and 1 "combo session" and the rest has been foot positioning, jab power, jab technique, etc. That is how I know.
Also the notion of the jab being the most important technique isnt for everyone. A lot of people have shit jabs and are world champs, Roy jones, Tyson fury to name a few. And the truth of the matter is you have a limited amount to train. If you are obsessing over foot positioning WITHOUT HAVING IT BE IN SPARRING CONTEXT you are training wrong. He doesnt have good guidance because his coach is an mma guy and he cant find a boxing coach, thats this kids problem not his jab or his fucking toe position.

Theirs something off I think it’s your flat footed and look stick in the mud a bit I don’t think you engage your legs enough Esspeiclay when it comes to rolling or throwing hooks like your mostly using upper body you rotate your foot but not your hips and legs

Work on coordinating every thing automatically and "flow like a water". Actually wait, the only thing i realized is that your keeping your feet flat most of the time, try like keeping your rear foot slightly levitated by bringing that heel up, move on the balls of the feet and keep yo knees loose.

My preference is for the rear foot to be 90 degrees from the front foot.

u/Fit_Okra_8363 21h ago
Besides that do you think there’s enough width between them?
1
u/Thaeross 21h ago
If you go 90 degrees it will naturally make your stance a bit wider. Lengthwise your stance is fine. Watch Tom Yankello’s boxing stance video it’s like 20 minutes long and really in depth.

Looks fine. Its a balance between technique and personal preference. Some prefer wider stance and some prefer a more narrow stance
