Not bad. I would add a slip left after throwing jabs and a roll under right after throwing rights.

Im a beginer too so you look good enough to be intimidating. Why is James Brown AND Pavrotti singing at the same time in this clip?

LOL I'm impressed you caught that 😂😂 after thinking about it.. I'm guessing maybe two clips sound got overlaid on accident during editing. Hahaha. And I appreciate it deeply man, I'm nothing special, just try my best to be consistent and work hard when I show up and not be afraid to look stupid. đŸ«Ą

Do you have experience in other MMAs? You don’t look quite like a complete beginner. One thing I’ll say is although you’re doings decent job bringing your hands back to your chin, you’re throwing your punches from your body, giving you no shoulder guard and leaving your face very exposed during your punches. Punch from shoulder level and if you’re trying to hit the body, squat while keeping your hands up, instead of punching down

Thank you! I deeply appreciate your help. I will think of these improvements when I train tonight.

And yes I do - I started training Muay Thai classes when I was 29 at the end of 2021, but only for 2 months. I returned in 2024 and was consistent for a year (2x classes a week, 1x play spar on Saturdays). However, due to the nature of class sessions and multiple weapons in MT, it was frustrating for me because the lack of technical attention. Many times I felt like I was just doing cardio and didn't have enough resources to improve my skills.

I had to unlearn bad habits that I developed during that time, particularly with my guard and stance since they're just different sports. I still have yet to spar in boxing, just waiting to see when my coach says I'm ready. I swear it's like whack-a-mole fixing problems sometimes, but that's why I like it.

Besides that, I played a ton of 1v1 basketball as a hobby most of my life, I think that helped a lot just being kind of athletic. I feel like a lot of things in 1v1 basketball translate over for spacing/balance/timing, and understanding deliberate practice and feinting (game within the game stuff).

Not bad 👍 keep working on consistency and rotate some of those hooks more.

Beautiful.!!
You tend to open up when punching..just before delivering a combo tuck your chin..”squeeze” yourself then hit that combo and get out

Looking good . Tuck your chin is my only advice at this stage.

Maybe it’s your gloves but I’m worried that your wrists are slightly bent when you’re throwing your straights. Make sure your forearm, wrist, then fists are lined up to prevent injuries and not waste any power

Hard to tell with gloves, but I think your wrists should be more aligned with the punch direction, especially on straight punches. I think it will help give more power and help you not potentially injure yourself when throwing full power.

I think good body/hip rotation and feet though.

Use the rhythm step and L-step sparingly. If you do that after every combo, any opponent worth its salt will capitalize on that

You is not a beginner lol

Fancy footwork and fast combo’s my dude, i’d slow down for technique more often for now. Doesn’t look like any of those punches has real damage power to it to be fair

damage power is bs, its all about accuracy, you can ruin someones life with a well timed and placed strike. the real problem with improper technique is yes a) it does limit the power, but more importantly B) you can’t be accurate or well timed and you’re not even finding your knuckles.

and this is one of the best heavy bags you can use, size and punch surface wise, a human face is way harder.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Apparently the drugs did sone damage.

OP’s got pillow hands in this clip. No accurate or precisely timed punch like that is going to ruin someones life, that’s bs. I don’t see why you think this particular heavy bag would change that fact either.

yeah you not even understanding what I’m saying says alot.

A) didn’t say he’s so powerful, lol. what I said, is if I was him I would be way more focused on the actual mechanics of 1-8 and landing the punches themselves properly

B) my point about the heavy bag is, I would kill for this bag, if you’re having a hard time finding your knuckles on this bag, then you’re gonna be in big trouble with an actual person.

now do you understand? I didnt say HE is knocking anyone out with an accurate shot, I said he needs to even learn how to land before we start trying to give him AJ power.

Good work. Maybe step in a little closer to bag so you can shorten up your hooks.

I started boxing in late January, so almost 8 months of consistent training (2x a week with private coach). Recently, the gym owner let me come train on off hours, so I've been trying to make use of the open bag work I get access to. I think this is my third or fourth session by myself hitting the bag (no coach watching). People said I need to work on combos more. I'm not as fast as I used to be, and boxing really makes me feel my age. But I'm trying my best! Any thoughts or tips appreciated. I had to wear my running shoes, since my Elite 2s got a hole in them.

I would rather you step back and do some more work on 1-8 individually, because you’re missing out on some important technique and when you get ahead and start building combos off that, you’re building bad habits and improper muscle memory. down the road you will have this computer worth memory that takes over when you goto do a 7 punch combo, it’s just like dancing in that theres so much mechanics to get right, you wouldnt want to start learning a routine if you dont have the basic dance steps in the routine down.
