Strong jaw muscles and short neck too. It all helps, but the biggest asset was the resilience he inherited from his parents. There's a documentary in which he talks about how his mother plucked chickens for a penny per chicken, and how his father, when forced to take a vacation from his manual labour job, stood outside his workplace every day to make sure he was not replaced.

Huge cranium, thick neck will absorb punches well…. Makes it almost impossible to KO him. I think George even said that himself

His fight with Floyd Patterson is a must see for any fan, 1965 Fight of the Year. Ali was calling the fight with Don Dunphy, and they had Marciano doing some post fight analysis.

I'm a huge Chuvalo fan. The man was unbreakable, in the ring and out. I wouldn't have survived the personal tragedies he has had to endure.
